Weird Australian Immigration

Post by MSI GEEK » Sun Jan 20, 2008 6:23 am

Even a Butcher earns the same points (60) as an Engineer in the General Skilled Migration List of Occupations.

The points calculator for Skilled Independent Visa may not present the true picture, the biggest hurdle is the skills assessment process for various occupations.

I really do not know how to get my skills assessed ???

I have an Electronics Engg. degree from a country that is not part of Washington Accord. Hence, the CDR requirement of Engineers Australia, but I have hardly worked in the given field. I may be using generic engineering knowledge, but nothing very specific. Can I receive a positive skills assessment?

I have been working as an IT specialist since last 4 years (contract & permanent) jobs, but I do have or cannot acquire Ref/Exp letters in the same format as ACS requires. As per company policies, there is no mention of project details and tools/technologies used. Is a positive assessment possible?

it takes years to become a qualified butcher, (both study wise and practical)just like it did for you to become qualified in your feild
