British National Overseas (BNO)

Post by tbbcuk » Sat Jan 28, 2012 11:46 pm

I am a BNO holder, I born in Hong Kong and HK was once colony of the UK.

I obtained ILR last year Feb, due to apply for citizenship next month.

Just want to ask, am I allowed to "Register" as British Citizen, rather than "Naturalize" as British Citizen?

Is the procedure similar?
Does NCS provide registering citizenship service?

Hi vinny, after reading that, I am still not sure if I should use the form from

(1) Register as a British citizen if I have some other form of British nationality.

or

(2) Register as a British citizen if I am a British overseas citizen, British protected person, British subject or British National (Overseas) with no other nationality.

I have an option in my own country to apply a Chinese Passport, but I haven't done so. I assume I should use the form from (1)??

Thank Vinny.

I have BNO passport because I born in HK and HK was once a UK colony. I didn't gain it through my parent.

I am really not sure whether you can get Boc status from your dad, hope other members in this forum can give you some light.
