Really getting worried as just spoke with HMPO and they advised me that the application takes 6 weeks to be considered and there is no way to ask for my original passport to be sent back to me prior to that. I will be travelling on 22 March so have no idea what I could do now...
Reading this form made me confident that applications are considered within a week or so and now HMPO are stating different time limits...Very confusing!

I just phoned the IPS myself and the guy kept saying 6 weeks but the majority of people on here get their passport processed within 2-3 weeks. Am also expecting to travel on March 12. However, have you heard of the saying ''Puss and Dog does not have the same luck''

Did you put your number on the application because you only get an sms if you have put your number down. Also, I sent my application on the 03/02/14 and IPS weren't able to tell me if they have received it until after a week, so for you I would give them a call tomorrow or friday with your receipt quoting your barcode number and ask them just for your peace of mind if they have received your application because you havent received the SMS message. Make sure you do that tomorrow!

Why is your interview appointment date on 22nd February? Did you choose this date for convenience or that was the earliest date available?

Gosh I was asked so many questions. No point saying them because the questions change and vary, depending who is interviewing you. I was asked questions about my private (not too intimate though..he-he) and day to day life. I think the standard questions is the one confirming your identity, like your name, place of birth, date of birth and current address. The rest were random as we progressed. I actually forgot my previous addresses but could only remember the post codes and towns. She said that was okay.

I would not put a sad face as yet If I were you, based on the timelines from January up until now, after people's application has been received by the IPS. It has been taking roughly around 10-14 days for the interview letter to come through their post. Most people got the letter at 11-12 days. Now I've counted yours and if am right should come between Monday to Wednesday coming if am correct. Also some people have been able to receive their return of documents before their interview and some get it after. Read back on people's timelines for a bit of reassurance.
some members have post their time-line and they only submitted application a day or two before me and they even got their passport and i even not got letter for interview . thats why i put sad face.

Now i am really worried. Its almost 3 weeks since i have submitted my application and so far i didn't get an interview letter. i rung them yesterday and the guy answer me it can take up to 6 weeks. when i told him that many people send you after me and they got their passport so the answer was that we deal every application with different time scale.

lets all be patient we all different in every ways even our faces are even different so we all cant get it on the same time so it doesnt mean if we both applied on the same day or before we all should get it on the same time. no no no. stop complaining let them do their job we have done ours so stay calm and peace.

Yes I am 100% sure I gave my mobile number but I am thinking maybe they couldn't read my handwriting and send it to the wrong number.. hahah
I actually called them on 11th and I talked with very nice lady but she didn't tell me if they received it or not. But I will call them again tomorrow and give my barcode number.
At least I want to receive my current passport back before 11th of March

I had sent my application on 4th and didn't receive any SMS. I called up on the number, for HMPO, mentioned on the receipt which I got from post office. They said that they received my application on 5th but at busy times they don't send SMS. Sounded bit weird to me, but I was assured that my application with my current passport hasn't lost in transit.
Just give them a call to calm your nerves.

HSMPLOCHA.... Funny you said ...'Your British now'.... because during my interview the lady kept saying 'now you are British'. It sounded strange but true. At a point I thought she was referring to someone else, even though it was obviously me. We were only two of us sitting in the room. I guess I am still getting used to fact I am now British. he-he.

All you need to send is your British certificate, Passport, 2 passport photos and completed application form.
they DO NOT required your residency card.

So my predictions are going right so far. Based on everyone's timeline here. Once the IPS have received your passport application. It take on average 10-14 days to receive letter for your interview. I called and booked my appointment this morning. There was an earlier time for to attend on the 17th of february but that would end up in Luton and I aint travelling from london to luton just for a half and hour interview
