Hi, I have a couple of questions...would be grateful for your answers/help.

My situation:
Australian passport holder, have had an ILR card for a number of years now.
Became british through naturalisation about 3 months ago.

I need to get a British Passport. What documents should I send in? Do I need to send my ILR Resident Card and my current Australian passport + my old Australian passport which I used when I initially came into the UK about 6 years ago on Highly Skilled Visa?

Just send your passports and certificate of naturalisation.

Finally the journey is over. It was very fast considering it was sent to Durham Office.

Highlight: the passport was delivered without the need of the signature. They just dropped into my mail box.

Good luck to the others. This threat is incredible useful!!!

After reading all the wonderful posts, I understand that the Check and Send Service is better than the Apply by Post or On-line.
Given the beta service, the On-line process seems to be giving delays.
I am in a sales role and have to travel outside UK frequently. I would like to use my current existing passport of the foreign country for travels while my British Passport is being made.
As part of the documentation that needs to be submitted for a new Passport, I will need to submit the Passport (existing one that is from India). Is there a way to get this existing passport back quickly, once i submit for application or alternately, Can I got to any of the Her Majesty's Passport Offices and show them my existing Passport and request them to take a Photo Copy for the application processing? Do I have the option of using the check and send service to check my existing passport and send a photo copy as part of the application process?

I do not agree that check and send is better. When I applied for my daughter's first passport, woman at passport office wanted me to give her my birth certificate. I told her it is not required and her reply was she does it day in day out so she knows better. I don't have a birth certificate so I told her to send the application without it. She reluctantly sent it and there was no issue whatsoever. I didn't even bother about Check and Send when I applied for my son's birth certificate.

According to my observation British Passport deliver on 3rd or 4th ..........day after interview but how it is possible they delivered on 2nd day after interview?????

Hi,

I don't know if they always send a text message telling you they've received your passport application.

You can send a tracking update request on this site: https://www.gov.uk/track-passport-application - the website says you have to wait 3 weeks before you can track, but they will tell you if they have it. It took them 2 days to respond to me.

The Post Office Check & Send is a separate (although similar) service to that of the Nationality Checking Service.
