Had my interview a few days ago just waiting for my passport now.

I applied online originally and everything has worked fine (thus far!).

Thought I'd share this with you lot.

I've applied for my passport on 29/04/2015 changing spelling of my name and surname with a signed Change of Name Deed provided. Last week HMPO sent me a letter asking to write a declaration that I will change the spelling of the name in my Latvian passport to match the spelling in British passport. Which I thought was bizarre!

I wrote back declining to write such declaration as I know Latvian passport office will reject a request to change the spelling of my name as all masculine names must be translated into Latvian which adds a letter 'S' on the end of every name and I want to get rid of it as my name shouldn't have an 'S' in it. My whole life I've been hating on having my name altered without my consent and it seems I'm going to have to stick with it until I renounce my Latvian citizenship and surrender my passport which I don't really want to do.

I've also enclosed a new application signed under the name as in my Latvian passport but without the nasty 'S' on the end of my first name but kept surname as it is. I've been using this name for the last 2 years for professional purposes so I sent the front page of my Tax Return for 2014 and a recent letter from HR department of the company I work for showing the spelling of the name as well. Didn't get it countersigned nor included another set of certified photos as I had it all done in my previous application.

So now just have to wait and see what happens! Most likely my application will be refused and documents returned so I'll have to reapply... and do it properly.

Hi all just a quick question.

I am filling out passport application form but just wondered about grandparents details that need to be provided. Is this necessary even if apply through naturalisation? And do you need to provide details for both mother and fathers side or just 1.

I just provided my parent's details. Didn't gve grandparents details. Got my passport in 8 working days without any problem. I was naturalised citizen as well. So its not necessary.

Interview was last wednesday (22nd) and received a text to say it was being printed the next morning and it would be delivered within the next few working days (23rd). As of now, passport is still yet to arrive, and after just getting off the phone to them I'm being told that it's scheduled for today and theres no reason it couldn't come as late as 8pm, but if no sign by 7, to ring and schedule a re delivery.
Getting a bit frustrated now because surely the delivery process is supposed to be the easiest thing!

My wife also facing same issue, we have decided to change her surname to be mine when applied for naturalization. It clearly says on the naturalization certificate that he maiden was her old name and new name with my surname. We all applied on the same day, i have already got my interview letter and attended interview as well. When we called passport office they said there is a difference in the name in application and her current foreign passport hence they sent a letter and need to wait until we receive that. I was told that the letter was dated 6th May but we haven't received it. Can anybody help on this if you have been through this already?

Everytime I call they give me the same response, saying "My Application is undergoing Standard Security Checks". Even when I press for a more concrete answer, I get nothing. They make it seem like a 9 week processing time is normal.
Any ideas on what specific question to ask or press them on?

Received a letter stating that they need a confirmation from my employer before they can send my passport/supporting docs to my work address. Would have been helpful to know this ahead of time, i now lost a week. Shocked that Check and Send have no clue about this.

Check and send is Crap and a waste of money.I also applied through check and send but there is nothing that I cant do to pay them for it.I will say best thing is to apply online and then post your docs this way you can track your application online.

My application 8th may check and send postoffice
Havent received any confirmation or letter yet sso calld them today to check they have received my App.
