Hi Srieuk,
All your details match exactly the same dates as my sons application. I guess will get the same reply as you from UKBA hence did not bother sending an email. Thank you for updating. Please keep us posted. Am not in a hurry to get a passport though.

"14th Nov status: Can confirm no decision has been made"

does this mean your childs application is now on the system?
I guess we both will get it soon.

We are on the same boat. I too applied on October 21st by Royal Mail (did not use NCS) for registration as a BC for my 4 year old daughter and so far neither money has been debited nor acknowledgement letter been sent.

I have emailed the HO twice and they sent me a standard reply that they sent to everyone saying that it should take between 4 and 6 weeks, etc etc to get an acknowledgement letter.

Did you use the NCS?

Even I applied for my son on 18th oct, received by UKBA on 22nd Oct, fees has not been deducted till now. Mailed HO couple of times but no use.

Wonder how long is it going to take!

I am happy for you that finally they have taken money from you so they should send off the acknowledgement letter today and you get it in 4 to 5 working days.
I applied on 21st October and so far nothing at all.

Found this in the web thought it would be nice to share

(i) Envelope opened and fee taken to account. Contents of envelope place
in a pouch.
(ii) Application file is created. Database record created specific to
the application.
(iii) Security checks conducted - some of which are directly against the
information entered onto the database, others are with external
agencies.
(iv) Case goes into queue awaiting consideration by a caseworker. Queue
is in date-of-receipt order.
(v) Case is allocated to a caseworker for consideration. If everything
is in order the application is approved. If not, deficiencies are
rectified - e.g. by writing to applicant for further documents or by
clarifying immigration history from records or clarifying security
checks.
(vi) The system generates a certificate for the applicant which is
printed off and despatched.

The only difference between NCS applications and non NCS
applications is that, having been already checked to make sure all
documents have been submitted and mandatory requirements are met etc,the cases are usually ready to approve when the reach the caseworker without further enquiries being necessary.

In summary, cases are considered in date order. Once they reach a
caseworker, the time taken to consider the application depends on how
easy it is to determine that the requirements are met. If an applicant
has omitted information or documents or has a complicated immigration
history that requires closer scrutiny then the application will be
delayed for the period of time taken to complete enquiries

Happy its all sorted. Seems like NCS applications get priority which is fair as you guys spent extra money. My postal application was received on 8/10 money taken out on 21/10 and ack on 25/10 and still waiting....hope not for long. Good luck with your passport application.
