Thanks for the information bunty. This is what I thought as well so I just rang my council to check and they said they don't have a certificate for me meaning I shouldn't expect a letter from the Home Office any time soon (at least not within ten or so days)
oh well, hopefully the end of next week maybe. I'll have to sit tight in the meantime.
Congratulations again lad, you enjoy the end of your journey!!

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it...

I wouldn't lose hope. Council probably can't find any information on you because it is likely that they haven't inserted your certificate details on to their system. For all you know, Council's probably received the certificates but just haven't gone through the pile. You might receive your approval sooner than you think.

when you call the number written to your acknowledgement letter there are two options to choose. One application sent within 6 months and more than 6 months. For less than 6 month, automated voicemail said cant give you an update, for more than 6 month it said send us an email. So I did. And received an automated reply (standard stuff) and a proper response after few days saying can't give you any update because your application sent is less than 6 month.... back to squire 1

I am getting more nervous by the day....my coworker applied 2 weeks after I did using the same referees through NCS Westminster and was approved in early December.
Date of receipt of approval: 9th Jan 2013, letter dated 31st December 2012
The funny thing is that I just attended my coworker's ceremony this morning. I am so relieved! Good luck to all who are still waiting.

I am one of those applicants from October yet to receive the approval. I am anxiously waiting as I am planning to move to the Netherlands soon and the BC will make things easier for me. I share others frustrations at UKBA's lack of response. Now, they don't even speak to you even if your application is more than 6 months old. They just have two different email addresses for less/more than 6 months.

I am one of those still waiting from October too. Altough some December applications had been approved already, rastro for example applied early October and only had his approval yesterday. Let's hope next week is a much more active week for all of us. Fingers crossed...

Ah...another week gone and no sign of approval yet...I have been waiting since 20th August... its over 4.5 months soon to become 5 months..
Tried emailing them to provide update..they responded with the same old default message.
Tried contacting registrar she said when you would recieve the approval only then we would be able to provide update...
Every day is adding to my frustration!..wondering if theree is anyone else from August club.

Best advice for the long approvals is to take it upon yourselves to ask why?
If you don't know why, then perhaps "maybe it's this" should be explored!
UKBA caseworkers are instructed to defer under certain situations. All the caseworker's notes are easily available and locatable using google.
Plenty of scenarios are not necessarily your fault but an effort to clear them up would save a lot of anxiety.
Just my 2 pence worth.

I can't figure out any reasons why November applications are fast tracked then October ones. At least it not us the reason (needless to mention paid the same fee, for example!) behind the delay.
And caseworkers' notes, finding them in Google (or UKBA's internal wiki?), teach us more
