Eligibility criteria: (5yr residence + 1yr ILR;)
Language criteria met: Degree taught in English
Current Nationality: South African
Method of application: NCS (Islington) 11 May 2015
Biometrics taken: 10 June 2015
Date of receipt of approval: 03 September 2015
Date of Ceremony: 07 October 2015

Total application duration: 115 Days

My invitation letter strangely instructed me to call the Registry office to arrange a ceremony appointment. However, when I called, I was told I was already booked in.

Eligibility criteria: Spouse of British Citizen ILR+1 yr
Language criteria met : Life in the UK , English language cert IELTS (used in ILR)
Current nationality: Indian
Method of application: By post
Date of application: 1/06/2015
Payment method: Debit Card
Date of receipt by UKBA: 25/06/15
Date of debit or clearance of fees: 02 July
Date of acknowledgment: 05 July (email)
Date of Biometric request: 12/07/2015, submitted biometics on 14/06/2015
Date approval received: Awaiting
Date of ceremony: Awaiting

In the mean time I requested the return of documents on 17/07/2015 as we have to go on holidays whic was planned before applying for naturalisation.
HO did not return the documents even after a month even after repeatedly reminding and calling them and even filing a complaint against this as the service standard is only 10 days. However no avail and no response on the requests and my wife has to cancel her holidays as passport was with HO and not returned.

We have to go for another holidays on 23rd september and so I needed the passport and BRP urgetly to travel on 23rd so I contacted my local conservative MP (Sutton and Cheam).
And within a week HO returned the passport and BRP by special delivery!! (I included only the normal self addressed envelope with 6 first class stamp in it).

So MP's recommendation works and HO listens to them so please approach your MP if you want your passport back,.
However My recommendation is to use NCS as you will get your originals back (£ 50 is steep fee for this but worth it). I have had enogh with HO and have no confidence in their abilities and they are lazy bunch or too much in their plate. So even if NCD staff are cluless and know less than you regarding forms please use them as you will get your documents back.
Don't trust HO on return of documents as this servive is useless and in majority of cases they don't return on time. So no need to lose your hard earned holidays or in case you need to travel urgently to home country or on business, please use NCS.
Regards,m
Shiv

I've been noticing a trend for straightforward cases after 6th April 2015.

It appears many of them have been getting responses from HOme a office about 3 and a half months on average after your biometrics are submitted.

Hi guys,
Just a quick question. Even though my cheque was cleared in a matter of weeks, I never received the acknowledgement of application and more than a month from the deduction of the fees have passed. Should I be worried? Or is this normal? Anyone experiencing same issue? Thanks.

The payment for my application was deducted (credit card), around 20th May. Then a week later I received two letters from the Home Office - one is the acknowledgement letter and one is the biometric instruction letter.
So I suggest that you contact them straight away if, after a few weeks of funds were taken you still haven't received any correspondence - in case they went missing in the post.
There is a time limit for the biometric enrollment to be completed as well so, you probably should get in touch with the Home Office promptly.

Hope that helps.

Congrats :-) I sent my application end of April and the biometric was submitted around 25th May - so hopefully it'd a matter of a couple of weeks before I receive my reply?

Is anyone doing this process from the USA?
I just submitted my Hubby's paperwork on Sept 1,
It was received by Liverpool on September 3. Just wondering how they do biometrics and such with the time constraints. I've heard they may email due to the distance... I'm hoping things move quickly! Any help would be very much appreciated!

It would have been good to submit you're HMRC documents with the rest of the application. Having said that there have been cases where UKVI request additional documents during the application processing stages.

British born kids becomes British national if one of their parents is settled (ILR) before they reach the age of 18. So she needs to be registered as British national. No naturalisation is required for her.

Not quite right. British born children are british citizens if at the time of birth one of their parents, either: a) have ILR or b) are British citizens. If the parents get an ILR after their birth then the child has to undergo the Naturalization process.

Please always double-check the guidelines before giving advice on this forum as you may be misleading others.

The guide at:
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... e_2015.pdf
specifically states this:
"A child born in the UK to parents one or both of whom are
 British citizens, or
 are settled in the UK at the time the child is born, or
 members of the UK armed forces
"

Plz read the link YOU have quoted. It says registration not naturalisation. MN1 form is the registration form not naturalisation Form

You are wrong for kids born in UK it is registration proces, naturalisation apply to those born outside UK.
