Had my 1st British passport interview yesterday, here is what I was asked:

>Parents name, date of birth and place of birth
>Spell your full name and date of birth
>Full address
>How did I get to Durham from Newcastle, how long did it take, how many miles
>If I drive
>What is your car make, did you buy on cash or lease
>Why did I move from Scotland to England
>Do you have any friends or family in Newcastle
>What your friends names
>what are your hobbies
>Is your house detatched or semi detatched
>Do you have garden at back and front
>what size is your back garden
>How do you get in the back garden
>If you are standing in the Spam how will you get to the stairs
>Describe your living room
>Told him I have a fish tank in living room, he asked if the fish are male or female
>Who else lives in my house
>Do I have any kids
>How old are your kids
>Where does ur parents live
>Who signed your application form
>Where does he work and what he does
>I said IT developer, he asked software or hardware
>Where do you work
>Does your wife work
>Are you paying any mortgage for your house
>Do you have any bank acounts
>Do you have any credit cards
>Signature on electronic pad

Thats all I can remember, he asked some other silly questions but I cant remember, I think he was planning a blooming robbery in my house instead of passport interview Lol.

Good Luck Guys and avoid Durham office if you can.

If it helps, I've had my interview (lasted between 15 - 20 minutes) and got asked to confirm:

My full name (and spell it)
My DOB
My place of birth
My home address
My parents' full names
Where they live
How many siblings I have
Starting point of my travel to the IPS office
The type of residence I live in
How long I have lived there
Who else lives with me
My previous address(es)
My spouse's full name
His place and country of birth
Whether we have children
Where I work and what I do
Where my husband works and what he does
How long we've been married
When I came to the UK and my immigration journey to date
Where and what I studied in the UK
When I attained PR
When I applied to naturalise
Date of my ceremony and description of the occasion
When, how and where I lodged my passport application
How I paid
How many bank accounts I have (and any borrowings)
My counter-signatory's name
His work address

Signed the e-pad and...

That's all I think. It was a relaxed interview - though a little intrusive I felt - especially as I got to interview the interviewer afterwards. It was satisfying (albeit a little cheeky) to reverse the spotlight!

You do not need to bring along any ID, just the interview letter bearing your unique ref. number.

Hi Forumites

I had my Passport Interview today (11/02/2014) at the London Passport Office (Victoria)

Just wanted to share the kind of questions asked.

The Interviewer made it clear as soon as he started that it was an information interview to make sure my passport is being being given and sent to the right person.

1) My Full name and D.OB
2) Parents name with D.O.B
3) What do I do for living/ Describe it in detail
4) My current and previous address
5) My way from work to the passport office
6) Who livess with me their names
7) My counter signatory name, how long do i know him/her, where he/she works
8) State all the jobs I've held since the age of 21
9) How many sibling do I have/ where are they/ did they come at the same time as me to the UK
10) When did I finish my exams
11) When did I get my first job
12) Which college/university I came to study at
13) Spell out your full names
14) My mobile number
15) Name of my 6 yr old son's school/ Details of how to travel from my home to my son's school
16) Who I bank with
17) My Father's age
18) My home town from where I came from abroad/ Country of origin
19) What did I study at University/College
 Then finally, "Are you going back to work from here?"
Please sign on the electronic pad, your passport should reach you 4 to 10 working days.

The funny thing about the whole process though, is that the security to get into the building is just too much. You empty all contents from your pockets, remove coats/jackets, remove belts, switch off all mobile phones and electronic equipment. You are then told to go either the first or second floors, when you get to your designated floor, asked to take a number sit and wait to be called to talk to the receptionist, who then tells you that you must not use any electronic devices and all mobile phones to be switched off, passport will be sent to you, it will take 4 to 10 working days, then again you are told to sit and wait till your number comes up to go to one of the interview booths.

Y all that maximum security for an interview ???????? lol ???????      :P
Thank God for I have a British Passport!!!.
God conquered Everest (BC) for me, and now has presented me with a Britih Passport.
Hallelujah!!!

Hi all! I am so eager to share my journey to British Citizenship! Hope these can be helpful...

Background: I applied for 3yrs-route(spouse of BC). I was on student visa before I got married. I live in London but booked interview at Chelmsford as London IPS has no available dates for me.

I arrived 25mins before my appointment time and was immediately called(before my time) just after the quick briefing by the receptionist!

Questions:
*How did you get here?
*Did you drive?
*Do you know Chelmsford area already? Where is your friend's place here? How long have you travelled?
*Who's with you today? Where are they now?
*Do you have an idea of the interview already? Have you heard from friends with similar experiences?
*Spell your name.
*What other names are you known?
*Can tell me your present address and post code?
*How long have you been in the address?
*What's your address before that? How long did you live there?
*Tell me your mother's name? Date of birth?
*Tell me your father's name? Date of birth?
*Are they in your home country?
*Since when did you come to UK? What's your purpose?
*(As I answered I was here to study...)What course and college and where? What happened?
*How many siblings? Are they back home as well?
*What's your partner's name? What is his work? Where?
*What are your utility bills? What companies?
*Mobile phone-contract or pay n go? What network?
*Do you own or rent? Still paying mortgage?
*Do you own your car? What is the registration number? What make?Insurance company?
*Where do you work? How long have you worked there? Where did you work before that? How many days do You work? Are they night or day shifts?
*So you worked while you were studying?
*Before you arrive in UK what was your work?
*It seems unrelated...why didn't you work on your qualification here?
*When was your civil partnership? Where?
*When was your citizenship ceremony? Where? How did you find it? How many people were there? Were there refreshments? Who was with you?
*What are your interests? (As I answered we love to travel...)Where did you travel?
*Please sign the pad. Any questions?
*Where do plan to go after this?

Note: The interviewer started in a conversational style, already asking questions while she's not even seated. I'm not sure if it's part of it already. I suggest be calm and just answer yes/no or direct to the point. Don't elaborate and just lead you to answering a question related to that. I have confirmed wrong answers when I got home. I receive a text now that passport is on its way!

Best of luck!

All

I went for my passport interview today and wanted to share my experience

Date - 30.12
Place - London Victoria

Appointment at 8.15, arrived at 8.05 and went through the security quickly. Got my token at ground floor and went upstairs to the interview floor. Waited for about 2 minutes before I was called to the booth.

The person was very relaxed and friendly. Asked a few basic questions about what my day was going to be about and also gave an overview of how the interview will be. She started off by asking me how I came to the office and then went on to the main questions below

Main interview questions (no particular order)

1. My full name (spelt) / DOB / Place of birth
2. My parents full name / Place of birth
3. Counter signatory's full name / occupation / how long do I know him
4. My UK history / when I first arrive/ what did I do / subsequent visas
5. Occupation / Employer / Current manager
6. Previous occupation / when I started my professional career (both tied in together)
7. Current and previous address in London / brief summary of the area I live in / why I chose that area
8. Wife's name / DOB / Occupation
9. Do I drive?
10. Naturalization ceremony place / private/public? / how was the ceremony?
11. Passport application method / documents submitted / whether I have received back the docs?
12. Apartment description / Rental agents info

All of the above questions were asked and answered within 6-7 minutes. As long as you dont panic and know your answers, it should be a breeze!

Good luck to everyone else!

Today is my turn :)

I went to New Port Passport office, semi Airport level security check, emptied my pockets but somehow deemed me innocent and didnt frisk me  the person at check-in was very nice as well and explained me the process but to my surprise said interview will be approximately 15 minutes, I had 40 mins in mind, sat on chair next to booths, no token given at all.

Anyway a nice lady came from booth's side and asked my name and escorted me to a booth. Booths are very much like PEO's during visa process if you've used them. She was very polite and chatted a bit before explaining the visa process and chatted some more then started interview. None of the questions were out of the list provided here. Here's what she asked and I recall.

1. My full name (spelt) & DOB
2. Wife's full name and DOB, her occupation. Our date of marriage.
3. My UK history, when I first arrive, what was the purpose (I stated Settlement)
4. Occupation, name of Employer, Place of work
5. Current address, house type (I stated Terraced)
6. Daughter's name, DOB.
7. Naturalization process, fees,
8. Citizenship ceremony place, private/public? (I stated Private)
9. Passport application method and whether I have received back the docs? (Said yes)
10. Rental agents? (Told name)
11. My contact number and spell out email address.

That's it, interview was over in less than ten minutes and then she had my signatures checked, I will put in Passport Timeline the next step.
Being British is a state of mind.

Hello All

Following is what I experienced...

Sent my passport application through Post Office check & send service on 23rd Jan. Received my documents and letter to book an interview on 29th. Booked my appointment on the same day for the very next day at Victoria office.

Arrived an hour early and was called for interview in about 45 mins.

Interviewer was a very polite lady. She explained that the interview was not to catch me out but to protect my identity and I shouldn't be nervous (I was to start with). Then she started with usual questions..

How did you get here? Train
Was it direct?
Sorry, did you say underground?
How far is the station from your residence?
Do you drive?
Who are you insured with?
Its absolutely freezing here, is your area as cold?
So what are you going to do once you are done here?
When did you first enter UK? visa?
Where do you live? Tell me about your residence? Floor?
How long have you lived there? Previous address?
Landlord's name?
Who do you live with?
Is your child in full time education?
How far is their education centre?
What is around their education centre?
So your child goes from Mon to Fri?
What does your wife do?
What do you do for living?
Who do you report to?
Parent's name?
Where are they?
How long have they lived there?
Have you lived with them in foreign country for a long period of time?
When did you get married?
Where did you get married?
When did you meet her in UK?
Did you know her before she arrived in UK?
Where did you receive your citizenship certificate?
Is your child clingy?
Who do you bank with?
Loan/Credit card? Issued by?
Any other accounts in the past?
Thank you very much for attending this interview. Now we will make few checks and all things clear, you will receive your passport in 4-7 working days.

Folks! will post as soon as I get me passport. In the meantime if anyone would like to ask any question(s) please, feel free.
