Hello everybody,
In advance I would like to apologise if I have posted this in the wrong section. I'm currently applying for my daughter's first passport. I'm British (my parents were british by naturalisation before I was born and I was born in the UK), her father is Tunisian and she was born overseas in France. We are residing here. The Passport office are now requesting my husband's birth certificate and our marriage certificate. I don't see why this is necessary because I thought because she has a british mother, her parents don't need to be married anyway and my husband really doesn't have anything to do with anything as he isn't British anyway, they never asked for this in the original forms. They are also requesting a recently issued birth certificate. I have sent my original one by post and thought that would be enough. They have also asked for my parent's (her grandparent's) birth /naturalisation certificates and marriage certificate 0 I understand that part because I was born in 1991...
The papers are easy to get hold off but i will have to translate all his papers as they in french and that's expensive here and time consuming, also I have to order a certified copy of my birth certificate which will take weeks and it isn't cheap either. It's annoying because I don't feel I need these papers but maybe I do because i am applying from overseas?
Can someone explain the logic behind this?
Thanks alot
