You can only claim Housing Benefit as a single person with two children. i.e your wife can't be considered in the application. What do you mean when you write that you are paying a high rate of 111 GBP per month? A high rate of what exactly? :?

Hi casa

Many thanks for your prompt reply

Sorry my way was may wrong it's mean rate A and according to my knowledge other areas in my city is little lower so its dependnon area i think so i an paying £111.20 per month.

So my hours are less and i am trying to find some good job.

So i thought if it's helps to reduce my council tax.
Council tax rate is depends on area so its like A B OR C ETC

please correct me if u am wrong some where.

Secondly can i apply for council house? like people put and register there name for house on rent so i am looking to go through council it's just because people on my streets like neighbours they said you will pay less rent. Private rent is but high rate.

I hope above explanation helps some where.

Thanks again to CASA

Council tax band A, which you are paying, is the lowest rate already.

You can apply for Council Tax Support and see if you get anything.

Check what you could be entitled to on the benefits calculator (put yourself as British)

https://benefits-calculator.turn2us.org.uk/AboutYou

Otherwise, speak to Citizens Advice Bureau

Have you applied for tax credits in joint names and Child Benefit in your name only?

Again, Council housing can only be allocated based on you as a single person with 2 children. Your wife can't be included in the points awarded.

Also, be aware that there is a very long waiting list for a council house or housing association house.

Your best option would be to see what, if any, housing benefit you qualify for but it is unlikely to cover your full rent.

I don't have the answer. Your local Citizens Advice Centre (CAB) should be able to give you free advice.

Housing benefit, if you qualify for any housing benefit, is paid to you either weekly or once every 4 weeks. You then have to pay your rent to your landlord. What you might qualify for depends on your household income and personal circumstances.

Council housing or housing association, is cheap rental properties, but unlikely you will qualify for one of these any time soon. Some areas the waiting list is many years long and these properties are usually given to priority applicants, which from your circumstances doesn't appear to be priority.

It won't put you on a fast track for a council house if there is a serious shortage in the area....but it might put you in temporary bed & breakfast accommodation. You could also be allocated accommodation anywhere in the UK. Better to stay where you are.
