There are so many reasons why child benefits may be stopped it is not really possible to tell. You should call the benefits people up and ask them as they are the ones who would have stopped it.

Dear noajthan,

I have a query to ask you please, and wondering if you can help!

I'm non-EEA family member of EEA national/ and also just became British citizen) and I'm about to apply for PR as non-eea in October 2016, and just curious to know which of my sponsor' IDs that I should have to send, EEA passport or British passport or both, she also has PR). Also we are married and expecting a baby!

Thanks

Hi,

Me and my wife entered the UK in September 2010 (we are both Polish). Few months ago I've applied for DCPR for myself and now finally got it issued (I've been working in IT). Unfortunately my wife hasn't held her CSI for a continuous period of 5 years and this disqualifies her from applying for DCPR herself (she first studied and then we had children so she never worked in the UK). Reading this forum I came across a post that lead me to believe I could act as her sponsor (now that I've got my DCPR). Could you please let me know if that is true?

I believe if your partner is now a British citizen she cannot sponsor you, but more knowledgeable folk here will be able to confirm.

There's been threads here of people who renounced their British citizenship to go back to their EEA one so they could sponsor a family member.

Well she's an EEA national (A8) and became a British Citizen 6/7 months ago, and I will be applying for my PR as non-EEA on Oct 2016, could I only use her EEA ID + her PR so that shows she's a qualified person who's been exercising treaty rights, or British ID!

I think I found an answer for my question as per "McCarthy transitional arrangement" as I got my RC in October 2011 which is away before the new law in July 2012, as my partner has become British citizen 7/8 months ago!

Its a tricky area but you may be able to invoke that ta. Highlight it clearly in a cogent cover letter so caseworker is absolutely clear on your case;
(and this assumes you were married to each other when that 2011 RC was obtained).

no we were that time unmarried partners and this is how I got my RC, actually we got married in March 2016 (we were unmarried couple all this time till March this year)

I read few times about that law, but wasn't sure till I read you posts and that made it very clear! I guess I have to thank you twice!

Hopefully all good then.]

As spouse/sponsor is an A8 national, how about WRS registration?

I know what you are saying but:
*She's self employed so therefor she doesn't need WRS, I didn't need it when I got my RC in 2011 either, however she had the WRS before she became a self employed! But wasn't required due to her being self employed
*Even if she wasn't self employed don't think the WRS is required now after April 2016!
*Also she's qualified person and had her PR in 2014, and became British citizen in 2015!
*Also we're expecting a baby @ the same time as when applying for my PR as non-eea in Oct 2016! But I rather wait for the baby first to come and then apply soon after
and include that too!

*thank u for spotting that anyway!! :-)

Sounds good,
Baby will be blessed as born British (one parent is BC and child to be born in UK); apply directly for passport for baby.

Thanks, I think had a good plan, except when I found out about dual EEA national/British citizen could cause problem for their family members which I am one of them till I read about the McCarthy rules which were set out on July 2012 which was just after when I obtained my RC based on unmarried partners relationship
Btw thanks for the baby wishes/blessing! we are here learning coz of you guys! may god bless you all :-)

Hello dear people,

my question now is, what will happen to us, after UK leaving the EU? I know it will take a couple of years, but what then? How is the country gonna treat us? And what about those who aren't here long enough to apply for PR etc? Will they be forced to leave? Apply for specific VISA? Oh dear, how ridiculous it suddenly sounds! I still cannot believe Britain has voted against EUROPE!

Thank you Tony2015. I am sure you will receive yours pretty soon because most of the posts here for eea nationality confirm the processing time around 80-90 days. Good luck

For those not yet qualified the deals made with EU when Britain applies to leave will be all important.

I was wondering whether Home Office would take knee-jerk reaction and automatically throw out all applications they are currently processing for EEA nationals. Fast way to clear the backlog of applications.

Big congrats and thank you for updating the timeline. You seem very much in line with the other June recipients, so at least the pattern holds.

Hello,

I'm applying for a pr card for myself, and on the application on section 17, there is a question that i don't know the answer to. It's section 17.9: Please state what ties you(or any family members who are applying with you) have with:
the country where you were born
any other country whose nationality you hold
any country where you have lived for more than 5 years
You should tell us about any family friends, or ohter connections with that country.
Then there's a timetable to fill in.
Myself i'm portuguese, came to this country at the age of 18, in the year 2001, and have been living here with no gaps ever since. This is a solo application for me. Always worked, have family here but just aunties and cousins. I'm not sure what they want on this section, and any help with this would be massively appreciated.

HI marcia 1983,

At the question with what ties you have I just put my parents becuase they live in the Romania where I was born. I dont have any brothers or sisters ( I came to UK in 2010). I have friends here in UK and a fiancee but I dind not mention any of them.

That is also my worry. I submitted my application in April, I'm reaching 80 days today. I was hoping to get my documents back before the referendum... I don't know if the vote result will affect the decision on my case. :(

I assume that leaving the EU will not happen overnight. Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty establishes a two-year timeframe for the negotiation and to exit. I am also thinking that Cameron has said today that this process will not begin until October 2016. Dont panic, your application will be processed soon , in a few days you should recieve it.
