Sometimes those who fail to make the cut are directly issued with a RC.eLnof wrote:Fellows, quick question if you please. My biometric card came in the post today but it doesn't say "permanent" anywhere! Instead, it has 5yrs on it and in the type says "Family Member - EU Residence"! And nothing came for my wife and kids (the EEA nationals).
I tried to look for samples online but I saw one that specifically said "Permanent Residence".
...
Could they have rejected their application but gave me an extension to my expired residence cardAfter all, we used the EEA PR form, so in keeping with "sticking to the rules and guidelines", one would think they'd just reject it and asked me to re-apply for a 5-yr residence card.
Do your cards show "PERMANENT RESIDENCE" or other text?
Any help is genuinely appreciated!!

My timeline is below
Application sent 16/06/2016
Application received: 17/06/2016
Still waiting for outcome.....
That I am not sure about yet. My wife and kids received their certificates and they clearly state "Permanent Residence" and my letter, too, clearly states "permanent residence". The only thing that doesn't say that is the Biometric Card.blueeyes wrote:Hi eLnof,
Congrats. Just to understand better. Does it mean that they issued family member - residence card 5yrs instead of PR card 10 yrs? Did they confirm that its the same or how did you sort that out?
thank you very much. it's a massive relief. all the best to you too.blueeyes wrote:Ok elnof, all the best and atleast now you can enjoy your new year.
Thank you very much for your detailed response. I drafted the email already because all the samples I could see online say "permanent resident" and my decision letter is clear on that too, so it's only the BC.nwaotu wrote:Hi Elnof, I think it is a mistake or maybe you were issued a residence card rather than a permanent residence card because a permanent residence card would always bear "PERMANENT RESIDENCE" under the "TYPE OF PERMIT" section. Permanent residence cards are renewable after 10 years. Residence cards are valid for 5 years.
I think you need to contact the Home Office as a mistake has been made or maybe they thought you weren't qualified for a permanent residence card consequently, issued you a residence card (it happens sometimes)
I have copied and pasted as seen below the Home Office email address for biometric residence cards reports that is if it has got a mistake on it:
Email the Home Office on BRCerror@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk within 10 days of receiving your residence card or permanent residence card if there’s a mistake on it.
Include the following in your email:
your full name, date of birth and nationality
your passport number
your case reference number
a contact telephone number
your delivery address
details of exactly what information is wrong
Congratulations eLnof. Hope everything will be sorted with your card soon!eLnof wrote:fellows,
finally got the response.

Case reference for EEA nationals received (email): 25/07/2016
Biometric Enrollment letter for non-EEA received: xx/07/2016
COA for non-EEA received (letter): 30/07/2016
Decision letter: 07/01/2017 (sent with all submitted documents in the prepaid envelope)

On a different subject, the UKBA helpline is absolutely pointless.. when I called on 04/01 they said my application was still pending, when in fact it was completed! When I called again on 06/01 to enquire about the discrepancy in the info I got and to ask for explanation as to why my biometric card doesn't explicitly state "Permanent Residence", the person on the other end of the line was so dismissive and borderline rude. He even hung up right after I said:" OK, thank you" without bothering to respond... While I realise they're heavily loaded, it is in their job description to respond nicely; firm and decisive but nice!
Anyhow, glad it's over.... hope everyone gets their papers sorted for some piece of mind before the mess that is Brexit starts.

I had not received any letter for bio-metrics or COA; so I contacted the Home Office via their email on the 14th December.
I then received a letter (dated 14th Dec) saying that I had not done my biometrics within the 15 days and I was given an extra 10 days. (I HAD NEVER RECEIVED ANY LETTER WHATSOEVER).
Anyways I completed my bio-metric enrolment on the 20th December.

Assume nothing.Lazaro wrote:Mine finally arrived - it was obviously misplaced or got lost in their outbox. The letter and the document are dated 17 November, but I only received the DCPR and my documentation end of last week. Quite annoying - but better late!
Onto the citizenship application. I know you're supposed to apply at least 12 months after the date you were officially exercising treaty rights (or whatever the correct phrasing is). Does anyone know where to find/ check what date they have on record? I thought the letter might confirm this, but it only has the date of the letter and the date of issue of DCPR. Can I assume they went with the date I put on my covering letter?
