Home office change policy on CSI

Post by Obie » Fri Jun 05, 2015 2:02 pm

The Home office has issued a new policy with effect from 22nd June 2015 , titled Comprehensive Sickness Insurance for EEA Student Family member.

I am sure the previous position of the Directive from 2006, appears to be the correct version. This change seems a bit restrictive. To be honest the directive is a bit unclear as to whether the EU national and all the family members should have Comprehensive Sickness Insurance.

It appears to me it is the EU national that should be exercising treaty rights in that capacity and the family members will in turn qualify.

One can use the analogy of a Worker.

The family member of a worker do not need to be a worker aswell for the worker or Self Employed EEA national to be able to support them.

We will see what the court says about this.
