Welcome.

Start here - look for Malta links:

Although not specific to Malta, you may find this article by Freemovement helpful. Bear in mind however that with Brexit in mind, your wife is unlikely to be able to achieve Permanant Residence (PR) in the UK under Surinder Singh.

Work wise it depends on your skills, as employment in Malta tends to be seasonal.

Hi Casa,

A question relevant to the OP and me, is PR the same thing as the UK Residence Card? And if so, can you say why it is unlikely the OP's wife may not achieve it with Brexit in mind?

Cheers, Matt

No, it is not the same. Read linked document above.

Because it takes 5 years to acquire PR and UK won't be in EU in 5 years time.

No. PR is Permanent Residence under EEA Regulations and only acquired after 5 years of residence in the UK. This is unlikely to be available after Brexit which at present is estimated to be in place within the next 2 years.

Fellow moderator noajthan may well be able to explain this more succinctly.

Also to the OP, I have almost competed SS and started off in Bangkok. I think I can help you with preparing documents before you leave Bangkok
