Irish citizen bring non-EU parents to France?

Post by jinyasha » Mon Jan 09, 2017 7:52 pm

I have the Irish citizenship. Recently I got a job in Paris and I'm moving there this month. My parents are non-EU and currently live outside of Europe. I'd like to bring them to live long term with me in France. My father is 69 years old and my mother 66. I'm their only child. Does someone have similar experiences to share? What visa should they get? What documents should they provide in applying the visa? Does France require proof of their dependency on me? What counts as proof of dependency in France? Thanks in advance.

Schengen visa.

EU law requires proof of dependency of parents on sponsor.
That is, proof of financial dependency for provision of essential daily needs.

If any EU citizen has managed to bring their non-EU parents to France, please share your experiences.

Dear ExpertMembers,

Sorry to follow on slightly older post.
Do we have example on how to prove the dependence to EU host state.
As in general experience is Host state are playing a hard ball, when it comes to Dependent family members especially parents.

Any help / sample documentation (if possible) will be really helpful

Have a nice weekend
Cheers

I am currently going thru this process in Germany. UK citizen, Non EU Parents. I have been living and working in Germany for the past year. Financial dependence (poof my parents on me) has been accepted by the Germans via the proof of regular bank transfers. pay-slips for the past 4 months proved my residence in Germany.
