Does Change of Name on Passport updates all immigration data

Post by RayJay » Wed Oct 07, 2015 11:13 am

Hello

My Friend has changed his surname via deedpoll update his name on Passport and Driving Licences etc and wondering if all his immigration record is updated automatically or will he need to send them letter.

Is IPS part of UKBA? if yes his Naturalisation certificate must be automatically updated?

He is worried that UKBA states that all changes must be reported

Does it even matters as he already has Citizeship now?

thank you for reading

Makes now difference, they will link his new name to his old name when they issue his new passport. Naturalisation certificate does not have to be updated.

1) A change in the name of individual which is reflected in a passport for all intents and purposes is updated immigration information. Hence, the new name as indicated in the passport will be linked with the old name and associated immigration records.

2) Please be reminded that the UKBA was an organisation formed by the Home Office for dealing with immigration entry matters outside the Boarders of the United Kingdom. Furthermore, UKBA has become defunct and the organisation now operating with its place is UK Imigrations and Visas. You can find out more about them via this link: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisat ... mmigration

Now to address the issue of whether the IPS is part of the UKBA (now UK Immigrations & Visas) the answer is yes to the extent that this department focuses on the issuance of British Passports.

3) A change in the name of a passport qualifies as an update in your immigration records.
