Father's visitor visa - Do I need accountant letter?

Post by tulipz » Mon Nov 23, 2015 5:52 pm

Hi all,
My father will soon be applying for visitor visa from India. He is a retired state govt employee and has regular pension coming in. He also has a house and a plot in his name. I will be sponsoring his trip. I've shown £12000 in my bank account. I work through my own limited company.

I have about £45000 in retained profits in the company account.
a) Do I need to get a letter from my accountant for this
or
b) is it ok to just state it in the sponsorship letter and give accountant details for verification?
or
c) is it not required at all?

Can someone please clarify?

The £45k in the Ltd's bank account cannot be counted as it's not yours.

£45k is all retained profits. I am the sole director so its available for me to withdraw as dividends whenever I want.

Is my limited company info even required for sponsoring my father's visit visa? Would £12k in my personal bank account be sufficient for this purpose?

No, the Ltd is a separate legal body as far as the law is concerned. It may well be available for distribution as dividend but until that happens it's not yours. There must be some CT due on it though in any case unless you've not traded for some time.

Anyway £12k in your personal account is more than enough for a visit.
