Fiance ( sponsor) Passport expired

Hi,

I am in the process of completing my online Fiance application. My Fiance (sponsor) passport is expired and the app is not accepting the past dates..So I put the 1 Jan 2050 date as it says on the side of the app that if your passport does not have an expiration date, just put 01 Jan, 2050. Not sure if I am doing the right thing. I have explained at the of the application about his expired passport dates and why I put 01 Jan, 2050. Do you think its oky to use his British passport which is expired this June?

Any advice would be highly appreciated and thank you in advance.
