American citizen want to move to uk

my brother is an american citizen and he lived in usa more than 8 years
and now he want to come and live with me in uk
what kind of visa should he apply and how long it will take

How old is brother?
Is brother dependent on you & needing long-term care?

Marriage, student or Work Permit are only options unless there are underlying conditions we don't know about.

my brother is 36 years old and he if he come to uk with work permit he will be living with me and sponsoring him until he find he own place

is work permit visa easy to get ?
how can he apply for it ?

He needs to get a job with an approved Tier 2 sponsor to get a tier 2 general visa (work permit but not called a work permit). Not that easy to get though, depending on his skills etc.

There is no easy route to 'move to the UK', it is becoming more difficult with the rules constantly changing.

If he is highly skilled or highly educated there's a decent chance but he must find a sponsor who can employ foreigners and the job generally must be offered to local UK and EU people first.

But not easy, what are his skills?

He can't apply, a company who wants to employ him has to apply subject to the above.
