Does past NHS effect British sponsor

Post by seagul » Thu Feb 09, 2017 11:59 am

Hi all
If somebody prior becoming British national was student and other points based categories and during that time had used NHS then if he sponsoring foreign wife then would he has to declare and pay it in addition of health surcharge of £600?
Would past NHS medicines taken by British Sponsor would affect his future partner's spouse visa application??

If you had valid visas you were allowed to use the NHS.

NHS usage and unpaid charges are only for people not entitled to use free NHS and can affect a spouse visa application.

Were students, psw, EU family members visa holders prior becoming British national allowed for NHS usage and medicine.
In above situation NHS never asked for any bill payment because no major treatment or expensive medicines were taken rather very few times inexpensive medicines were taken.

You are over thinking this. You were allowed to use the free NHS in the visa or EEA categories you mention. Any person holding legal status (except visitors) are allowed to use the NHS.

It has not effect on a spouse visa application BUT if the applicant has been in the UK as a visitor, for example, and used the NHS, they must pay. Failure to do so will result in a possible refusal.
