IHS Surcharge for ILR dependent

Post by foo_bar » Tue Aug 20, 2019 11:34 am

Hello,

I came to the country as Tier-2 migrant and got my ILR in April. I now need to apply for ILR dependent for my wife who is in India at the moment. Once the spouse application (Apply to enter the UK as a partner) was finished, I was redirected to IHS page where I was asked to pay £2000 for IHS surcharge. My questions are:

- Do I need to pay 5 years' surcharge in one go? I believe the visa gets granted for 33 months initially and we then need to renew. Can I not pay 2 years' surcharge now and the rest of the amount later?
- In the link to calculate IHS Surcharge (https://www.immigration-health-surcharg ... ecker/type), I selected 'Settlement' under partner visa route (in 'About the person you are joining in the UK' section). What should I select under 'What is their visa type?' section? The options are Husband, Wife, Unmarried partner etc. Not sure whether these are the visa types.

Thanks

You pay £1200 for the first spouse visa.

What date are you putting in for your ILR expiry?

Thanks for the quick reply @CR001.

While filling the application, I didn't see any field related to ILR expiry. As far as my BRP is concerned, it shows 2024 as expiry as I got it this year only.

You need to put 3 years as expiry date of ILR to calculate correctly the IHS cost
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
