Sponsor Letter/Declaration

Post by princess22 » Thu Mar 06, 2008 11:47 am

Hey everyone,

I need to know what a sponsor letter/declaration entails, what do I need to include in it? How long should it be? Does it require to be attested?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I wrote my sponsors letter for my wife and step son in front of an official at the British embassy in Belarus.

It was quite short, gave my wife and sons full names allong with their passport numbers and stated that we would like to live together as a family in the UK. I also stated that I would support them to the best of my ability.

Probably about 5 or 6 lines, they seemed OK with this.

You don't need to get a solicitor to attest the oath/declaration/letter of sponsorship. As long as you sign and date it, it's valid.
Also. you only need to get the pages of the passport photocopied with the passport information on it and the photo and any non-blank pages.

Cheeers Sammie,
Thank you very much for the advice.

Can you help me in this matter please.
As I am living and working iin UK and supporting my wife (British). I am going back to India to apply under unmarried partner. My sponsor will be my wife but I support her not she.
Can she write in the sponsor letter stating that she is dependent on me rather than she can support me.

Another question:
As I am the only working member of my family. My wife is British but does not work. In my case my wife will be sponsor does she has to show any maintainance saving in her account if yes then for how many months of saving account statement
Thanks and regards

My status is:
Came to UK under HSMP and in 2003 Dec and since then living with my partner. We got married under religious way but that is not recognized by the UK governement.
In Dec 2005 our daughter was born.
In Novemver my HSMP visa finished and did apply and due to changes in HSMP rules my applicaiton was refused with no right to appeal.
Now few advising me to go back and apply under unmarried partner visa. But the problem my wife does not work and I support her over here.
Thanks and regards

I'm guessing you mean you've had a Nikkah? If you were "allowed" to marry while you were in the UK on the HSMP visa/status and if you have a Nikkah Nama (marriage certificate), then that is sufficient evidence that you have a legal and recognised marriage (as the UK does recognise a Nikkah with a Nikkah Nama). So you could actually apply for a spouse visa.

Are you classed as an overstayer at the moment?

Yes I will be classed as a overstayer at the moment.
I did not register our marriage.
Just Nikkah that too last year.
