Spouse Visa Extension for Spouse of a British Citizen

Post by Sneha kamath » Thu Jul 23, 2015 1:16 pm

Hi All,

I have an Spouse visa which will expire on Feb 2016.How many month before my visa expires can i extend my visa ? and how many months will it be valid? i am planning to switch my job in Dec 2015 and since my visa will then be valid only for 2 months it will be huge set back. Below are the visa details

Visa type: Spouse Visa
Visa valid time : 33 months
Visa start date : May 2013
Visa expires : Feb 2016
first entered UK : 25 May 2013

When i got my Visa my husband had ILR and now he is a British Citizen (from Nov 2014) so under which visa should i apply ? and when can i Apply?

Any help with this regard will be highly appreciated.

Hi,

Ideally & generally speaking not earlier than 28 days from your expiry date if you are continuing your stay in the same category. It also helps you so that you don't lose out on any days/months that counts towards your ILR if you get your new visa with starting date earlier than your old visa expiry date if you know what I mean.

About specific questions about which visa to apply, I think the experts can kindly help.

Cheers.
