Can i apply for ILR after 5 years as a student?

Post by Perc trinidad » Wed May 29, 2013 11:22 am

Hi to all,
I came here on Sept 2008 i am a pre tier 4 student. When i came here the policy for student was after 5 years they can apply for ILR, and after a year (2009) they changed it to 10 years lawful stay in the UK only can apply for ILR. My question is since i came here before they introduced the 10 year policy, am i under the old policy which is the 5 year? Or the new policy which is the 10 year?
Can i apply after 5 years or after 10 years for ILR?

As as I know, there had never been a policy in 2008 or prior, that permitted students to apply for ILR after 5 years. Who told you about it?

Hi there,
The 5 year policy is all over the UKBA website before.
Cant find the exact link. But someone also posted in other forum about the 5 year policy..just asking if someone might have known this topic before. Thanks!!

I have never heard of 5 year policy for students either otherwise I would have already got my ILR 6 years ago :-)

I am afraid there are only the following options for you to obtain ILR:
10 year lawful stay
5 year on work permit
or dependent
