My experience (ILR 03/02/2014 Croydon Success!)

Post by niranhopper » Tue Feb 04, 2014 11:33 am

Hi

I applied ILR on 3rd Feb 2014 in croydon and was successful. I would like to share the complexity of my application hoping it would be useful to someone.

- I had stayed in Tier 1 General all 5 years and entered UK after 29 days of initial grant.
- For a period of 15 days during my stay, i was unemployed and went for a holiday outside UK.
- I didnt provide letter of absence for 2 years from my previous employer.
- I used my Indian undergraduate degree certificate for knowledge of English and didnt provide any other letters. My degree certificate is on the PBS calculator.
- I didnt submit any photocopies with my application (although i had them with me)
- I provided e-tickets as additional proofs for my UK absence. In one of the tickets, the return date was wrong as i had postponeded my trip. However the stamp on my passport was correct.

I would like to thank all members and their contribution to this forum which had given me the confidence to apply by myself.

Thanks

Congrats

I also have a question. Do you have to submit your degree again if you already submitted it when applied initially?

Thanks

I reached 30 mins earlier but It took about 1 hour (from the time of appointment) to submit my documents. Verification was very quick and took about 45mins.

Documents submitted were,

- application form and 2 photo.
- LIUK pass certificate.
- Bachelors degree and medium of instruction (both from an Indian university which is listed in PBS calculator)
- copy of PBS calculator results
- 12 month payslips
- 12 month bank statements.
- a letter from my current employer detailing absence for the last 3 years.
- passport and bimetric card.
- e-tickets for outside UK travel.

I was worried that i didnt submit photocopies. But when i collected, they said it was fine not to submit photocopies.

Regarding degree, there was 2 places in the application form where degree was reqested. First for knowledge of engish I didnt have any other proof and so submitted my original degree certificates. Second is for PBS points where i mentioned that i have already submitted proof as part of Tier - 1 extension.

Hi Niran,

Congratulations!

I entered UK on 25th April 2009 on Tier 1 (General).
During the initial period of my unemployment I went outside UK for 4 weeks. (23 May 2009 - 20 Jun 2009)

Does this period of absence break my continuous residence of 5 years?
What kind of reason is acceptable for this absence?

Thanks in advance.

niranhopper,

what was their stance on being absent from the UK whilst unemployed? Did they ask for any supporting documents?

considering you are asking in relation to SET(O), if you have already submitted your degree in previous Tier 1, you dont have to do it again. Check page 30, B4 of Set O form ver 12/2013.
