Called INIS on Tuesday to know why my application has delayed for almost a year and I was informed the Minister isn't happy with my application hence the delay. Why will she not be happy with my application? I've been self sufficient and of good character and only applied based on blood association to my Irish born children who all reside with me as their sole custodian since i am separated from my estranged spouse (Irish Citizen). I just don't get it. I've been informed anyway that my file is back to the Minister's table after answering to their last query in August. Maybe in the next few weeks she said or to call back again. Good luck everyone!

kingdoman, Im foreigner myself and I get seriously frustrated sometimes when it comes to very basic right/application and I only understood the reason behind the double-checks from my work (I deal with some fake cases and yet, they are cheeky enough to be confident that they deserve this and that and long tongued in front of the law and order system, and it makes it harder on us as we get tagged with being foreigners like them who want to evade the system.. you can not imagine the amount of the fraud happens in every public section, and many, many ppl get away with it, hence they double check and it affects us as they can not leave the law/rules/doors widely open.. its a matter of time, and fingers crossed we get our things done and then no more hassle!

Hi All

I applied for naturalization for me and my 2 daughters (8 yrears and 4 years). We have received the invitation to the Naturalization ceremony. Can I opt for naturalization for my kids only and not for myself? Would the local council give me the Certificate as Kids do not have to take an oath.

when you got the invitation? from what you are saying, it seems to be long, long time ago.. its ceremony now and no court oath.. the invitation should contain the RSVP information - or at least you can call them and tell them about your situation

@janet0001, as i've always noticed that you give sound advice here on this forum, pls can you advise as to the reason why the Minister of Justice would be said not to be "happy with an application for naturalisation" prompting a one-year delay? Thanks in advance for your objective comment/advice!

I've seen couple of applicants on this forum that have had their application deferred. Some for 2 years,a year and a half et cetra.Definitely, the minimum is 1 year. The reason behind this is with applicants that have come to the adverse attention of garda in the last 3-5 years, this is seeing as probationary period, they would like to see if this applicant did not come to the adverse attention of garda again. If the applicant stays out of trouble, there's definiy 100% chance of the application being approved. Alan Shatter employed this tactics for those that have come to the adverse attention of garda within 2 years b4 application being submitted, but seems minister Fitzgerald makes it like any applicants,no matter how long ago. If you have been of a good character, she won't write to tell u that her decision would be delayed for a year. If u've been in receipt of social benefit, she might systematically delayed u. Previous minister did not sees it as reason for refusal if u're in receipt of the benefit u deserve, the one b4 him makes it a big deal, perhaps the current minister is trying to implement her own law.Same political party, same ideas really, she's just delaying the inevitable. Finger crossed, she has already delayed it long enough

This is my first guess about approval. There is a probability that the will issue approval letter dated 03 October 2014 as of after the 04 july ceremony the letters were approve after 11 fays. Hence it may take until next week before the post man start distributing them. Fingers cross. I wish everyone good luck and patience. I am still waiting for the date of next ceremony to be confirm.

can you write the letter as is so we know what exact information they are looking for so we can help you in them?

also, your lawyer should be experienced enough to tell you what to reply/do?

Usually from my own personal experience its a long story with traffic offenders. I was brought to court and my case was dismissed in court. I applied in 2011 n till date. I hear same story of that my application is being processed and will get back to me in due course. Different story everytime I call helpline
