Eh.... Shatter changed all this. In fact I recall after he was appointed Minister for Justice, he said in Dail Eireann that no one will be refused citizenship because of parking tickets.

Darr81, if you have applied again since the new government came in to power, you should be fine. The old Fianna Fail government loved to refuse citizenship for foreign nationals because of any excuse

Who told you that !!!
we have here "Aboubakr" 3 or 4 pages back , He was refused for that traffic tickets twice and the offences were 2003, if you as a "foreigner" committing an offence "doesn't matter big or small" you have to live with the guilt for the rest of ur life even though he was punished by the fines and again was punished by the first refusal and this is the second time for the same offence and few days ago he was refused again and that was the third time punishment for the same offence.
we have no rights here as i told you SHUT UP AND OBEY

I would like to tell you something and I mean it "I MEAN IT" every single gardi and every single immigration officer everyone of them has his own law , like YOU CAN'T GET THE SAME RESPOND ABOUT ONE CASE, IT DEPENDS ON WHO IS THE PERSON DEALING WITH YOUR FILE AND SOMETIMES YOU GET BIGGEST NO EVER AND FOR SAME CASE THE SAME FILE BIG YES. WE ARE ABUSED AND WILL BE ABUSED UNTIL SOMEONE HAVE A MERCY ON THE FOREIGNERS AND ACTIVATE THE LAW ON THE WHOLE COUNTRY NO PERSONAL LAW FROM ONE ANOTHER ONLY ONE LAW. At the moment it doesn't look right doesn't look fair it does only one thing ABUSE THE FOREIGNERS
Only one thing you can do PRAY. :(

the law says "at the minister's ABSOLUTE discretion" in other words the minister is a god.... and it is not really the minister who takes the decisions, you receive all the letters saying "i am directed by the minister" so everyone in the Justice dept is a god.

I was stopped in 2012 for running a red right on a bicycle(despite apologizing to the officer and promising that it wont happen the next time, i was still sent court summon and got convicted and asked to pay €120 fine, which i paid straight away) now i willnever try to justify my act, i agree, but why is it, when i see multiple times cyclist running red light around Guards and get away with it.WHY??

Different law from a gardi to another / it depends on the gardi s mood at the time (IRISH STYLE)

daarrkkyy, i was in a similar situation last year, and i told immigration officer that i submitted my gnib for the citizenship, and he didnt ask anything else.
so dont worry about that, as long as you have a valid re-entry visa. just as a precaution, bring the copy of your gnib and citizenship approval letter, and you are good to go.

they see everything on their screen anyway :)

Congratulations to all those that got their approval now I feel more relieved its not only spouses of irish citizens getting approvals. Even someone with 5yrs stamp got approval it less than 3 month that is great.
beloved is the belief that there are inherent differences in people's traits and capacities that are entirely due to their race, however defined, and that, as a consequence, justify the different treatment of those people, both socially and legally.

Hi all,

I have a question. I've received approval yesterday but my GNIB card and re-entry visa will expire in August.
I have a trip booked for September.
Should I wait until August and then get a new GNIB and re-entry visa and then send GNIB to INIS to be able to travel? Or can I get a re-entry visa based on my approval letter?

Many thanks!

annemarie, i think your situation is a bit different and complicated than what other people have. if i were you i would talk to INIS or local immigration officer ASAP. i hope they wont ask you to renew your gnib, just before the ceramony.

If you submit your GNIB card to Department then you can't travel, as they clearly mentioned in your approval letter, and if you didn't submit your GNIB card then your will not be invited for Citizenship Ceremony.
