Is PRTB still compulsory

Post by Obie » Sat May 16, 2015 2:09 pm

I am just wondering if the INIS are still insisting on a person having PRTB before residency can be issues, and has anyone faced removal based on PRTB.

Furthermore, does anyone know of reasonable accommodation in Dublin or Dundalk area.

Would appreciate any reply.

I lived in Ireland about 8 years ago and I suspect a lot might have change since then.

Unfortunately I am use to researching things for myself, I am not fortunate to get much help.

I found out that it is not everyone that needs a PRTB, and that if you resided with your landlord, there is no need to obtain it.

The DOJ has clarified that if you are not a tenant then it is not required either.

PRTB is not compulsory, tgey ask for it as they ask for utility bills etc juat to prove that u r residing in ireland, if you have u can send it if not juat write your landlord never provide you one. Many people have got their stamps without it so its not compulsory.

I think if in doubt it is best to write to eutreatyrights@justice.ie and seek their advise. I had written to them earlier in the week explaining my circumstances and they advised today that in my case a PRTB is not essential.

Just wanted to know whether this will be an issue.

We sent our prtb letters with our names on it but the address has a slight grammar difference.

On our bills the address is 'xxxx xxxxx' but on the prtb it is 'xxxxxxxxx'.

Our names are spelt correctly.

Will this be an issue?

No I don't think it would be an issue, I have read in this forum many people applied for the EU1 without the PRTB and their application was successful :) The PRTB is to proof your residence in the state, you know the people who can not afford to get full house rented i.e living in a sharing house" they take a letter from landlord and submit with EU1 so do you still think slight grammer mistake would effect :D ?? Definitely won't!

Well it depends.

If you are a tenant then you need it unless the landlord is living in same property.

Just hope that error doesnt create issues for us.

Well, it is! Sounds like a joke but it is.

A friend of mine had to seek for advise with Solvit, because they wanted to refuse her visa because she didn't give the PRTB letter. Solvit helped her on getting the visa, because they just can't do this.

Good to hear this. I heard Solvit takes many weeks to solve each case. But the applicant's temporary GNIB is may be already expired.
