Naturalization application and return of original passport

Dear All,

My wife will be applying for her naturalisation at the end of Oct 2016 and we are planing to travel at the end of Nov for three weeks. In the naturalisation form it is required to submit the original passport.

Is there a possibility if we submit the original passport along the application form and if it could be returned in few weeks, so we can go on our holidays ? OR what is the procedure for return of original passport ?

Any one have any info / suggestions....

Hey. I sent original passports with my application and they were returned after exactly 2 weeks. I guess they prioritize acknowledgment for people who send the originals. I had asked them earlier for the time frame as i was due to apply for a public services card after my application and they said the passports will be returned fairly quickly.

OK Thanks. I also sent an email to the citizenship department and they confirmed that the passport is sent back within 3 to 4 weeks.

Why not apply via NCS and keep hold of original passport?

did they return your passport with registered post ? I did not enclosed any pre paid envelop.
I applied on the last week of aug so 4 weeks no response.

Yes registered post. I didn't send any prepaid envelope either.

thank you for your prompt reply and that is a relief to know they send in registered post! though im stuck now as according to the new application form all applicants from 19sept must reg for PSC and without my passport I cant.

Citizenship dept did not say anything clearly about the original passport when they going to give to the applicant.So my advise is once you send your application just write a cover letter regarding your holiday so that they give back your passport on their earliest convenience ..

I think that requirement is not relevant to you because you applied before that date. No worries either way because you can apply for the card as soon as you get your passport. I know they require an appointment but you can try your luck anyway as myself and few other people just walked in and received the PSC in 5 days. If you still want to play it safe, get an appointment now and wait for your passport to arrive.
