Passport Application

Post by Buzz2014 » Fri Jul 04, 2014 7:35 pm

Hello everyone,

Firstly congratulations to one and all new Irish citizens.

Can anyone clarify what documents you need to submit with the passport application.

1) Copy of passport or the passport? Or driving licence?
2) Copy of citizen certificate or the original one?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

2) original birth certificate
What if someone has no Original BC, instead has only 'Not Found' documents from relevant department from home country. I know dept of justice have no problem accepting 'Not Found' and accept it happily. But, what about passport office, do they accept Not Found or If it must have to OBC. what if someone is not in position to get one at all? How about birth certificate from relevant Embassy in dublin e.q. Indian Embassy in dublin provides birth certificate that only states the DOB, whatever printed on passport and say it is the Birth certificate. Would that be enough?
thanks in advance

Does this mean that they don't require us to send the original country of origin passport and only a certified copy will be enough?

Did anyone apply by sending a certified copy of the country of origin passport?

Yah,I wonder the same whether one can send a certify colour copy of one's passport for Irish passport application after naturalisation, alongside one's original driving licence. Some says its mandatory to include original passport, some says a certify copy would be sufficient. Has anyone ever heard of it being accepted?

Hi,

In the required documents they ask for:
Passport
Your passport from your country of origin

Photo ID
A certified copy of your photo identification, such as your driver’s licence, or the original copy of your passport from another country or your college identification card.

Do we need to send the original country of origin AND another form of photo ID or just the original passport will be enough?

Thanks!

7. certified copy ( by local post office) of my driving licence

Did the post office certify the copy or you mean it was certified by the garda?

Thanks.

I actually don't have a driving licence, Do I need to send another form of photo ID together with my country of origin orignal passport? Will a certified copy of my national country of origin ID be accepted?

Thanks

You skipped the photo ID part as they mention it online. Can you confirm that these are the documents you sent and got the passport?

@selectme

1 of my frnd submitted cert issued by indian embassy in dublin and the passport office declined to issue the passport. my frnd became adamant in passport office as to y it cannot b accpted, since the immigration depat accepted it and issued the naturalization cert on its basis.

u hav to b stron infront of thm. on the naturalization cert it is clearly mentioned that tht min of justice now hereby pronounce u as Irish citizen. if passport office doens not accept ur birth cert, u can claim thht passport office is refusing to accept the words of Minister of justice. u hav blackmail thm.

Hey - with regards to the certified copy of my driving licence - it was certified by the post office - not the Gardai - as on arrival to the post office the guy was nice enough to look through my application and see if I was missing anything - he was on the ball - i was missing something - a certified copy of my driving licence - he certified it and sent it - this morning the passport has been posted.

the only thing that the Gardai have certified was my actual application - nothing else. Seems that the post office can certify also - I never knew that!

message on the passport tracking regarding my application -

"Your new passport has been posted in An Post envelope reference no. PP*************** IE Use this number to track the delivery of your passport by contacting An Post at http://track.anpost.ie/track.html or contact their Customer Care service at 1850 575859."

Will let you know once it arrives
