10 working days are 2 weeks including weekend but when few thousand people apply for their first time passport on the same day you can expect few days delay, could 4 to 6 days,

It should be stamped by your local garda and i think you are bit confused to get ur passport back. You have lived ALL of ur life without Irish passport so plz hold few more days and u will receive it.

None of us work in passport office that could guarantee that u will receive it exactly on the 10th. It's the same way you are asking about "how long is a piece of string"........

So good luck and u will receive it soon....Don't think toooo much about it.

Not to hijack the thread, but I note that there is a faster way to apply "in person" for people with emergency requirements (travel etc)

As you can see below, there is a way to speed up receipt of passport, and it increases on a per-cost basis.

Has anyone tried this below and how quickly did you guys manage to get your passport (from walking into the office TO actual receipt of your documents/passport etc).

Regards

i recently sent my son's passport application. it says

Status: Application No. XXXXXXX. Received on 10/09/2014 and has been registered.
Issue Date: 23/09/2014

so expected date is 23rd but it can delay couple of more days which happened to me.

if you have documentation you still have option to apply in person at the passport office as other contributors say.

my post was about my son's application.
i cannot comment on your situation, as i dont have experience with that.
best option is sending an email to the passport office or calling them and asking them directly.
