Sponsor Spouse to Ireland!

Post by AK_83 » Sun Dec 11, 2016 10:31 pm

Hi Everyone,

I need some help and information to sponsor my husband to Ireland. I been working in Ireland since 2015 and got married this year in India and now he lives in Sri Lanka. I have a German Passport but been living in the UK for more than 10 years and moved to Ireland in 2015 for work reasons.

My questions are the following:

What would be a fast process to get my husband over to Ireland from Sri Lanka?
Is there a minimum earning or savings I need to show?
Is there something specific I need to make sure or my husband when I hand in the documents?
Would I need to hire a lawyer for this procedure?

It would be grateful if anyone has some information for me, so I can get everything as I looked online but was not able to find enough info and thought I would get more info maybe from people who have already been through this.

Thank you in advance. :)

Welcome and congratulations on your recent nuptials.

Don't expect things to move too quickly, there are long-standing delays in Eire in terms of processing C-type entry visas and also with EU documentation in general.
More on forum if you dig into such topics.

No, you don't need a solicitor if you are reasonably organised, intelligent and methodical.
Ofcourse if cash-rich but time poor that's a different matter.

Thank you so much for your info and wishes. I know it won't be a fast process but hope it doesn't drag up to 12 to 18 months. I will have a read through and keep an eye on the side to see if anyone will post anymore info.

Thank you once again.
