I am a British Citizen and I applied on EU1A forms for my non EEA defacto partner and three children early March.

I waited the 12-14 weeks and didn't get anything so emailed INIS and got the standard reply about delays etc. I then read on here that it would possibly be a further 8 weeks for acknowledgement and 8 months to obtain the residence card, all the while our normal lives and ability to work/travel etc are put on hold.
I was quite dismayed about this, as I know a lot of you are, so I emailed my local MEP who got onto them about my case at the end of June.

In a little under 2 weeks I had an acknowledgement letter requesting some more information. I was a little unclear as to what they were actually asking for so I emailed my MEP again, who in turn contacted INIS again. I also wrote a letter myself with some of the information but most of it had already been given with the application.

One week later my partner had a letter from INIS giving approval for a 5 year residence card, no temporary stamp, a full five year card straight away and today, after sending birth certs and proof of residence in Ireland for the children, we received the same for them.

So in total it has been maybe around 20 weeks from application to the residence card. I can't help but think that this wouldn't have happened if I didn't get the MEP involved so maybe it is something to look into for others.

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying. I only had access via my phone over the weekend and I'm not the fastest on those tiny keyboards.
I just want to say I have no agenda or reason to make things up. I have been a user on here on and off for a couple of years and have asked questions about my situation in the past if you look back on my prevuious posts. You'll just have to take what I say at face value as I'm not interested in having to prove what I have done I just wanted to share what might work for others.
The step by step guide is literally detailed in my original post. I sent an email explaining the situation, the timescales and asking for help and it happened from there.
I know it was unusual because when we went to Garda immigration for finger printing and the stamp etc the Gard said he had been doing that job for 13 years and this was the first time he had ever seen this happen.
I can only assume it was the nuisance factor of having an MEP on the case. My line of thinking was that, as it was an EU application and it seemed that INIS were in breach of their time scales, an MEP might carry some clout and it appears to have been the case. I was at the stage where I was going to appoint an immigration lawyer but I thought I would try this route first. To my mind this is exactly what an MEP is there for, to help their local constituents.
If you google the MEPs for your area you will find all their contact details and they probably have a website too. This is all I did.

HI

i have seen many people who got 5 year approval letter within 4 to 6 weeks
they never had temp stamp before ... specially in parents cases

so its nothing unusual

i have also seen people who involved Solvit and solve issues in few weeks time.....

it also depend case to case.

Hi raja,

Spot on on dates,

No news on any side yet, inis asked for couple of more questions and i replied,

Once thing for sure, INIS is proactive, they used to send acknowledgement of documents in 4 week time but this time they sent within 2 days, i am expecting some thing soon...

You mean questions after you got your Stamp 4?

Was it for more documents via post?

Many thanks!

After 6 months,

I think its normal to ask how parents are supported, so i justified by submission of money transfer and house hold members etc ..

Hi Hamza,

Did you transfer the money from your account into your parents' account in Ireland?
