UK citizen with future US spouse living in Ireland

Post by RosieGEE » Mon Feb 23, 2015 2:42 pm

Hi there

I am a 22 year old female UK citizen, graduating from university in September 2015. I have been in a relationship with my US girlfriend for nearly 2 years and we wish to get married. She currently lives in America and I live in England. We both really love Ireland and have visited there twice already, we would love to move and live there.

Currently we are thinking about getting a UK Marriage Visitor visa which allows her to marry me in the UK within a 6 month time period, of which then she has to leave the UK. Therefore we are thinking of getting married on this visa and then moving to Ireland where I can obtain a job and hopefully live there together indefinitely.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me on this matter, would this be an acceptable form of marriage to move to Ireland? Can anyone provide any information on this issue? I have looked all over various websites and information and find myself going around in circles.

The plan:
Apply for Marriage Visitor visa UK
Get married before visa expires (6 months of entering the UK)
Move to Ireland after I have graduated and secured a job and bring her with me (also before her 6 months expires)
Live together in Ireland

Any information on how to achieve this, or relevant documentation/requirements would be very much appreciated :)

As long as you are able to find employment in Ireland, it will be very easy to sponsor a residence card for your non-EU spouse.

See application form and list of required documents here: http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Form%20E ... %20EU1.pdf
