Back in 1999 I applied to become a lawful permanent resident. I abandoned the application by leaving the country part way through it. Does that automatically mean I was out of status during that period? I was previously adopted (under 16) and abandoned the application when I was just over 18. Thanks:)
I'm in the process of becoming a US citizen. My children both have UK and South African citizenship currently. We would like them to also have US citizenship so will drop the SA citizenship. I'm just wondering if they must first become residents here or if they can jump straight to citizenship? They...
I was adopted by an American citizen when I was 15. I had residency but only just found out I was entitled to citizenship. It of course lapsed so that opportunity has since closed:( I now want to apply for residency so I can work while I'm here (I'm on an H4 visa). I'm looking at form I-130 and I be...
Hmm we just went through this process and it wasn't like this at all. My husband had to apply months in advance, there were several forms that had to be granted before he could even apply to come over, his salary had to be fixed and not variable...I don't know if there are exceptions but this does n...
I know this was ages ago but I was locked out for a long time. No idea why! I couldn't contact anyone and as soon as I logged in, I was kicked back out again. Seems to be fine now though. The links work, thanks!
I'm in America on an H4 visa. Not being able to work is a real pain and money is tight! I'd like to send my kids for piano lessons but we don't have the extra cash. I make a lot of body products and a piano teacher locally has said she will take those for payment of lessons. My husband is flipping o...
We are moving in a few weeks and shipping out stuff to America. I've repeatedly asked the shipping company what we can send but they are so non specific it's very frustrating. So I know what I can take in my check in luggage but I hear the restrictions are different with household items on a contai...

Tia;) http://www.immigrationboards.com/faq.php#f7r4 How can I find my own posts and topics? Your own posts can be retrieved either by clicking the “...

The only part I can give info on is the US temporary residency...no you won't be a temporary resident as they do not have that status any more (I used to be one, I am no longer). All they have now is being an alien or being a resident, which is a permanent resident and Trust me it takes about 9 year...
My story is rather complicated... When i was 14 I went to America alone to visit family. I ended up staying, found out I was illegally living there for 6 months (we were told by the school they would sort out all the paperwork) so I quickly got adopted by my family and continued living there for ano...
