I had contacted High Commission of India through email/phone and told them about the emergency that we are flying on 23 July. They agreed to deliver the OCI in person - They just saw British Passport and my Flight Tickets.

1.Government of India has decided to dispense with the "U" Visa sticker on the foreign passport of OCI card holders with immediate effect. Accordingly, Immigration authorities shall not insist on production of foreign passport containing the "U" Visa sticker in the case of OCI card holders while they enter/exit India. OCI card holders shall now be given Immigration clearance on the strength of their valid forign passport and OCI Registration Certificate (OCI booklet, popularly known as OCI card).

I know it is funny, they don't put any sticker on my UK Passport but they still need it. They gave OCI Booklet (it looks like indian passport) separately.

I emailed VFS and explained about flight on 23/07/2016 they charged £29 for delivery from High Commission of India to VFS for delivery charge.
I collected on 21/07/2016 from VFS, total rip off from VFS...

VFS is indeed a rip-off company.
One more thing people need to be aware is the sneaky practice of adding £1.44

for SMS service, without even asking people that whether they need it or not (They call it OPTIONAL

service). There is no point in having a SMS update for passport surrender as there is no in-person collection for the processed application and application will be anyway sent by post (same goes for OCI). Even if we need to track, we can do so online as most of us, if not all of us do it already.

Please be advised, you can say NO TO THE SMS service.
Even if you have paid without realising it, you are entitled for a refund (classic case of mis-selling!).

So, basically, we submit online application, printout and sign and take supporting documents and copies to the VFS for submission. Then wait for the status update online and then again go to VFS to submit the passport.
Second trip seems totally unnecessary as we don't require U sticker anymore. They already have a copy of our passport to verify passport details so I don't understand the need.
A lot of these documents are verified at the time of Indian passport surrender so if that was done only a few weeks ago, they could simplify the process instead of making it onerous.
A few years ago everything could be done via post and was much cheaper and less time consuming.
Also, they could have a fast track process for people wanting to travel within a month.
Sorry for moaning but I am British now

you are absolutely correct. Just because of this whole lengthy onerous process of getting OCI, we are having to spend an additional 450 pounds for 4 persons to get visas even though I submitted the application for OCI 7 weeks before journey date. The OCIs have finally been despatched from Delhi on 23rd July but unfortunately a bit too late for us.

Hi

I am having very tuff time in understanding how can i apply for OCI card for my daughter in India. Her case is little different from normal application. I have been trying to contact HCI London and VFS. Response from VFS is not helpful and never received any response from HCI london. Any suggestions from members will be very helpful.

Here is my situation.

Me and my daughter applied for British citizenship in JAN 2016, We both have acquired British citizenship in MAY 2016 (after ceremony) , but my family had to move back to India in MARCH 2016 due to family reasons and will not be returning to UK for couple of years.

Now i need to apply for my daughter's British passport and OCI card from India.

Question 1: Applying for British passport from India

can i apply for British passport From India 3 months after being naturalized. The reason i have this question is because, in one of the topic some one has mentioned BHC wont process the passport application after 3 months from India because it is illegal stay in India.

Question 2: Applying for OCI card from India.

As per OCI application guidelines we need to have valid Indian VISA while we are applying for OCI card from India. My daughter doesnt have a valid Indian VISA as she traveled to India on Indian passport before acquiring British Citizenship. I want to know is there any provisions for this case.

Any suggestions or guidance from the members will be very helpful.
