Surrender-Ind passport doesn't have a validity of 6 months

What happens if my Original passport doesnt have a validity of 6 months to surrender?

I have found the following checklist as I intend to post my application -

The first point is like below.. My passport expiry is less than 6 months. It is giong to expire on 04/08/2015

Your original passport with a minimum validity of 6 Month (180 Days)

So what should be done now now ? What options do I have >?
