Help with UK Visa Free of cost for spouse of Irish Citizen

Post by CalvinKlien » Thu Jul 24, 2014 9:52 am

Hi All,

I need your help, I am an Irish citizen and want to apply UK visit visa for my non EU wife. As she is the spouse of Irish citizen, we can get exemption not to pay the visa fee. I think it would be for 6 months and as far as i remember it is called Entry clearance visa. I have searched alot but couldn't find the right category and right visa that is free of cost.

The British embassy Dublin website is changed, could you please direct me to the right visa and right visa category that is free of cost based on spouse of Irish citizen. Please note, our purpose to the UK is just a pleasure trip.

https://www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa

Thanks in advance and would look forward to your expert opinion...

Hi Calvinklien,

EEA Family Permit is the one you need. But you need to travel with your wife.
Here is the link:

Thanks shintaxyz,

Yes this is the one i was looking for, but when i scroll the page to the bottom and in "Apply" section when i click "apply online"

It bring me to this Page: https://www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa

Now from here I am lost....

I also cannot find the category i need to select online from the visa fees: https://www.gov.uk/visa-fees

Also if i click on "Start Now" from this link: https://www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa

I need an account (which you can create a dummy one) and i cannot find the right category there either.

Could you please help further...

Hi Calvinklien,

Sorry for my late reply.

When you get to this page: https://www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa just click start now. you need to register an account before you can continue anyway.

Also the category you need to select online from the visa fees: https://www.gov.uk/visa-fees will be 2. What are you coming to the UK to do?

Join partner or family for a long stay.

Then, They’re from the EEA

Apply for a family permit to join your family or partner for a short or long stay if they’re living in the UK.

Hope this helps.
