I am a May applicant. Just wanted to tell everyone to chill a bit. Noone promised us that we would get a decision sooner than 6 months' time. The fact that others got the answers earlier doesn't mean we would too. For all we had been told everywhere is that the decisions take up to 6 months. Noone lied and noone promised anything sooner. We've all got our ILR/PR cards so are free to travel (unless some genius decided to send everyth off directly, rather than use NCS) and that should warm our hearts. Prepare for 6 months and be pleasantly surprised if you get the answer sooner.

Also, there is a backlog of passport applications, so there is no point in stressing over the timeline as you would just join another queue to get your passport and moan over there :))) let it go, everything will be fine!

(will post the same in the May timeline).

Can't agree with you. The more people demand, the more they get.

This state services must work effectively. This is tax payers money plus they charge a fee from an applicant.

With regards to NSC, read my other post and answers by gurus about it. Not everybody can travel and do NSC easily. You may offend some people by your reference that those who chose not to do it are "geniuses".

I can see your point there but I don't think it is good idea to be super patient and quite when you are dealing with the state. Unless you want to end up in a very poor and non-democratic country, in those countries people don't ask too many questions and don't demand much from government officials and services.

Sure they can take upto 6 months

sure they have a shortage of staff
but i love how theres no shortage of staff when it comes to taking the fees

thats happening normally... dont quite like that

@Maxwell
You can demand something within your rights. 6 month timeline is there exactly for times like these, to ease off the pressure on the services. I cannot see you having any grounds to argue. Please state the cause for your complaint, what exactly will you be demanding from the state?
As regards some categories unable to use NCS, please tell me who? Asylum seekers? Or who, as all NCS does is certifies the documents u submit.

@furbs

Demanding: Efficiency.

NCS: I did not say anything about categories

I won't argue with you, this topic is for timelines anyway. I have quite long experience with immigration services. If people stop criticising them, they will soon make new standard, instead of 6 months - 10 months, then 24 months and so on...

But Everybody has their own opinion. Some would agree with you, I'm sure. :D

On some level, I also agree with you. Like relax, chill out. But there are different situations in life. And UKBA sometimes can be quite nasty organisation. They once forced me to do appeal for very very artificial reason and I lost many months. It had nothing to do with any real rules, it had everything to do with general election and Labour wanted to manipulate statistics back then. Bear in mind, there are many people like me here. Plus, you say people can travel easily while waiting. Many people want to travel overseas but can't because their current nationality does not allow them to do it. Many people want to visit relatives but can't because they are afraid to leave home for too long, not to miss some letter from Home Office. So I would throw my weight behind complainers and generally pissed off people. They help all the rest too, by the way.

I can understand your friendly advice. Hopefully, you saw some other angle too, which I tried to show. Anyway, I think we both have a point. Let's close this little conversation, people will choose whatever suits them best from our discussion. :D It is off-topic, so I won't continue this conversation any longer. Thanks for your opinion, let's respect each other's views. :wink: :)

@Maxwell
With the human factor, I agree, people want certainty, the sooner, the better. As for travelling without a visa with a Brit passport, that's a luxury, so it can wait )) As for leaving home for too long, you would hardly leave for over 3 months (the time limit for attending a ceremony). 6 months seems reasonable, UKBA are disorganised etc. but in this whole world, I doubt there are more democratic institutions than in the UK, which at least give you the right to complain, raise hell and demand smth. In other countries...well, I'm sure you know how it works in the outside world.

Let's stop the discussion, agreed :) I respect your opinion and do not impose mine. All the best!

I am due for naturalisation In October 2014 but want to submit early by September 2014( got ILR in October, 2013) because I need the certificate if successful to process my sons students finance loan for his university admission in UK to start in September. He needs my naturalisation certificate as a proof of dependant on a British citizen. This is urgently required by the students finance loan body to grant him funds. Do you think I can get this sorted out before December 1st 2014. Please help somebody?.

@Jason 65

I have done my Uni from here.The requirement to get the resident fee's is not to have naturalization but to have the ILR card.read the student finance guidelines.Unless its been changed since 2013.

Show them the ILR Card and it should be fine.

Good luck
