3 Green Card Questions

Post by nblaze » Fri Aug 22, 2014 10:05 pm

So I was offered a job today in Dublin; however, the company doesn't know much about the process yet, so basically we're both learning about it now!

1. How do you know the establishment you'll be working for is "a company registered with the Companies Registration Office and the Revenue Commissioners. The company must be trading in Ireland.". Would any established organisation in Ireland be registered? I'm assuming so.

2. Does 2 years, stamp 4 = permanent residency? Do you have to work for the same employer afterwards, or does a stamp 4 mean you can work anyone without sponsorship?

3. Is it just 1000 euros from me, or does the company owe money as well, and if so how much?

Thanks!

Please find below your answers:

1- The company must be registered in CRO (Company Registration Office) which is in Parnell street Dublin 2. and must be registered with Revenue Commissioners. You would need company's P30 as evidence. Your company must know what is P30 if they are trading in Ireland so you need the copy of that.

2- The initial 2 years stamp 1 does NOT mean permanent residency. You need to work 2 years in Ireland on green card and the third year stamp 4 means permanent residency. You have to work for the same employer for at least 1 year and after that you can switch employer but you have to go through again the green card application to switch employer but once you are on your third year stamp 4 which is permanent residency you can switch employer without green card.

3- Applicant will pay the 1000 Euro for the green card application which is refundable in case of refusal. The company will pay nothing towards the application.

Any question do let me know.

Thanks! That really helps a lot. Another question if you dont mind. Say for some reason you did switch companies after a year, how does that work in terms of perm residency/citizenship timeline? Does it prolong the process, or does the timeline stay the same. Example, switch employer, new green card, which is a new 2 year visa? So would permanent residency now take 3 years rather than 2??

Also does anyone know when the new work permit rules set in in September? Thanks again!

For naturalisation (citizenship) you have to stay total 5 years, so it does not matter for naturalisation but for stamp-4 it does matter.

You have to stay continuously on a green card permit for 2 years to be eligible for stamp-4. Stamp-4 allows you to do anything (as it is not tied-up to your employer). So, if you change your green card permit after 1 year, your 2 years start again.

It depends on the DJEI to set the new rules. Please keep on following this website if anything changes >>
