ireland born baby to non-eu and eu parent

Post by carmy » Sun Sep 07, 2014 10:53 pm

Hi…

I am wondering if anyone can maybe give me more information.

I am a South African, married a British citizen in 2009…. we moved to Ireland in 2010 and after a fight received stamp 4 eufam for myself and my two boys in 2011.

We are now 22 weeks pregnant and concerned about the baby’s future regarding citizenship. Will the baby have Irish citizenship?

Thank you

As the father is a British citizen,if he has been for at least 5 yrs b4 the child is born, then the child can get Irish passport immediately. U would've acquired 3 yrs legal residency by he time ur child is born,so u can get an Irish passport for the baby at birth with ur stamp 4 as well. Pls do not let this bother u,relax and enjoy ur pregnancy...wishing u a stress free pregnancy and a healthy child.
