USA UK Settlement Visa Processing Times

My wife applied for a settlement visa to come and live here in the UK back on 09/07/2014, had her biometrics taken in St Louis on 15/04/2014 and the application was posted off and received by Sheffield on 22/07/2014 which puts us currently at 70 working days waiting time and counting.

Has anyone from the USA recently received their settlement visa and if so, could you provide us with your timeline so we know roughly how much longer we should expect to wait as the UKBA site's processing times keep changing.

Unfortunately I'm aware of the times they quote and was hoping for something a little more anecdotal in the chance there's anyone else here who has recently received their settlement visa in the US. We're clearly not in the 95% now so trying to figure out what's going on (if anything).

Not sure if I am reading the dates incorrectly but an application made on 9th July is not even a month old; If 22nd July - date received in Sheffield - is considered then it's a very recent submission.

I was wondering if you had heard anything about your visa catbusstop? I'm in a similar situation but a couple of months behind you. I have lined up employment for once I got to the UK but don't know what to tell them about when my visa might come through.

Still nothing yet (now at 19 weeks). The site that gives approximate wait times is still down, but the last time it was up it said that they aim to process 95% of settlement visas within 12 weeks, where 1 week = 5 working days, so there's a good chance you'll be within those 12 weeks.

It sounds like your situation is a little different to ours however. You have employment lined up so your entry requirements will be based on that whereas my wife is coming here and then looking for work so the requirements are based around my circumstances. Maybe they'll prioritize you so as to not mess your employment around.... Who knows.

My advice from personal experience seems to be to not get your hopes up too much!

So, FINALLY, our application was returned yesterday and the visa was granted. Not knowing what stage things were at or how much longer we had to wait has been the single worst part of all of this. For those going through a similar thing, here's our timeline:

09/04/2014 - Visa application submitted
15/04/2014 - Biometrics taken
22/04/2014 - Documentation arrives at Sheffield UKVI office
11/09/2014 - Email received saying a decision had been made
15/09/2014 - Documentation and visa received

Total cost: approx £1000 including document shipping.
