Inviting parents for long - more than 6 months

Post by ankur6006 » Tue Sep 16, 2014 10:17 am

Hi All,

I am in UK for more 10 years and currently on Tier 1 General until July 2017 with my wife & Kid.

I like to inviting my parents who have been here twice, each time 2 months, for longer the 6 months. If we apply for 2 -3 years multiple family visitor visa, can they stay for more than 6 months, if not, we may make a trip outside UK for - say Paris and clear immigration just before 6 months, in this case can they stay longer than 6 months?

Please advice.

Thanks.

Although a visitor visa may be issued for 2 years or more with multiple entries, a visitor is not permitted to spend longer in the UK within a 12 month period than they spend in their home country. Therefore a visit in excess of 6 months isn't possible and may well result in any future entry being refused. Short trips outside of the UK don't re-set the clock and therefore won't work.
