What does this Mean ?

What does this Mean ?

Changes to application process for children under 5 years old

With effect from 7th July 2014, parents will also need to book an appointment at the UK Visa Application Centre for any children under the age of 5 when applying for a UK visa. A facial image (photograph) will be taken of child applicants as part of the submission process. Children under 5 are not required to provide fingerprints.

Should a special appointment be made (in addition to the online appointment booking via UK Government VISA site) by going in person to the local VFS office in your region ??
OR
Is it just the same online appointment they are referring to here ?

Please let me know

I would like to know this too, my son is 4. Do I have to make a separate appointment for him?

That does appear to be the case, as it says,

parents will also need to book an appointment

Case :
As of now, parent (both father and mother) have visa. So visa application is only for baby. Iam going to book a online application for baby.

Considering this , now

PS - I dont even know why I pay the visa fee, Home Office in the name of making the application process simpler, it seems now that things are only getting complicated.

Can someone help us with this?
Do we need to book separate appointment for parent or is it the same appointment as for applicant?

Thanks

I would interpret that text as now having to explicity having to book an appointment for children under the age of 5. As in, earlier if the parent was applying for a dependant visa from a vfs office it would not have been required to book an appointment seperately for children under the age of 5.

It does not sound like anything needs done extra for parents. You could write an email to the vfs office to confirm the same.

This post is only for those applying from a VFS office from outside of the UK.

If you are doing a postal application from within the UK, this doesn't apply to you.
