no publuc funds

Hi
Hoping someone can help me recently got my brp. On there it says leave to remain,work permitted,no public funds. I am interested in doing a course offered by one of the colleges which is gvt funded the lawyer said education is fine as long as i dont claim welfare benefits.is this true because the college in question is totally confused ive been there 4 times and they kp asking for different documents.would

Yes he is right. Education is not classified as public fund.
