Can parents come on Dependent Visa?

Post by Mannu1979 » Fri Sep 26, 2014 9:14 pm

Hi,

I am on Tier 1 General Visa, my parents are currently in India and are not well. So I want to call them here so that I can take care of them , so is it possible that I can apply for a dependent visa for them ? Is there any guidance for such situation ?

Also I want to know that how much time my wife (on Tier 1 dependent Visa) can stay outside the country to be eligible for ILR ?

If anyone can answer these queries it will be of great help for me.

Thanks

Only spouse and children are dependents.

There is no strict rule about the time spent outside of the uk for dependants, it should be within good reason.

Thanks alot for reply.

My parents are medically not well, some one is required to be with them to take care.Under these circumstances also I cannot apply for dependent visa for them ?(I am on Tier 1 general vias) If I return to my home country there so I will miss opportunity to get ILR.

Also for the time spent outiside uk for my wife, is there any link which supports that there is no strict rule as friend of mine told me that it can be maximum 6 months.

It will be of great help if some can answer my queries.

Thanks

I understand your situation, but unfortunately the visa system doesn't consider parents as dependants immaterial of their health condition.

See family members of Tier 1 General Visa holders (click)

Regarding your wife, read Q12 in the FAQ here (click)

Hi,

Thanks alot O_Relly for reply.

For my wife case as a dependent of Tier 1, it mentions
That dependent should be in UK for 2 years. Does it mean
That dependent should be in for continous 2 years ? I am planning to leave my wife for 4 months in india so at the time
When i apply for ILR she will be in uk for more than
2 years but not continous 2 years.

Not in uk continously for 2 years will make her ineligible for ilr.

It will be great if some one can answer my query.

Thanks
