hey wishmaster

I have lodged a formal complain about the way they are handelling my case. they did reply confirming that they have received it and will giv me a follow up within the next 20 days. called my MP but his PS was saying even if it passes the 6 month period they can do nothing as it may b the procedure that the Home Office needs to follow. besically it means they are good for nothing but begging the votes! So No help from my MP's side jus hope I get some news from the complaint department. the damn ILR will have to pop in to me today or tomorrow by the grace of ALLAH. He's jus testing my patience. hopefully i pass n i pass it soon In Sha Allah. :) Do keep me posted about urs plz.

Hi All,
I've received my ILR yesterday and my timeline was as follows:

Application Date - 02-June
Biometric - 21-June
ILR Visa - Received on 13th with letter dated 11th June
Other Documents - Still waiting.

All the best to everyone who is waiting and hopefully you all shall hear the good news soon. If anyone looking at this forum before sending the application then my advise to you is don't do postal application its not worth the money you save. Go for the same day service.

Thanks,

I'm hoping it's on or before the 18 weeks most people are saying on these forums... I've got a holiday home to Aus booked for January 15. Took a bit of a gamble with that, figuring Ancestry would be pretty straightforward.
Thought I'd post an update on my progress here...

Very relieved to say that my BRP arrived yesterday, dated 11/11/2014. Still waiting on my documents to be returned, but pretty sure they'll get here by my departure date of January 15!

I was really quite worried that my SET(O) (Ancestry) visa would push out to over 6 months, especially reading on here that SET(O) applications were taking quite a bit longer than some of the other types. But this goes to show some applications can come in under 4 months.

Mine was a really straightforward case... ancestry (I had all birth certificates - mine, my Mum's and my grandfather's) with no dependents.

Good luck to all!

Hi
Received my BRP card today.

But didn't realise that there is a validity period for ILR.
My BRP card said it is valid till 2024. i.e. 10 years

Should I be applying for an extension again?
I am not intending to apply for a British passport.

10 year is the validity of the card, its not the expiry of your visa. After 10 years, you simply need to renew your card just like you do with your driving license.

Thank you all for your info and advices; I was a silent observer of this forum. Here is my timeline -
Set O application-
Application sent: 03/07/2014 (by post)
Payment taken: 07/07/2014
Biometrics letter: 17/07/2014
Biometrics done: 19/07/2014
BRP card arrived: 19/11/2014
Awaiting documents.

My route is Tier 1 General 3+2 yrs. I had a shortfall of 3 days before I could make ILR application. Decided to go safe, applied for an extension, got granted for a further 3 years extension (!) till 2017. It took them one month from application to issuance of the BRP cards.
Applied for for ILR 2 days after I had received the extension in July, used the same documents. Today I received mine and my daughters BRP cards. Waiting for my wifes card and the documents now. I changed my address after ther applicaiton was made, notified them by post. Even then, they sent my daugthers card to the previous address.

Good luck to all.

My time line.

SET(O) - 5 year Tier 1 General Route.
Application sent: 02/07/2014 (by post, received next day)
Payment taken: Sent a cheque. Dont know when they deposited it! Cant be bothered to check. Sorry :( *
Biometrics letter: 22/07/2014
Biometrics done: 26/07/2014
BRP letter and documents: 16/11/2014 (Received today on 19/11/2014)

So it looks like they are still hanging onto 4.5 months decision time. Well at least its not going worse if not getting better!

My case would be quite simple I guess. I have been in full time employment for the last 7 years and for the last 4 years I have been with one of the biggest companies in the UK. So I only bothered sending out online printed payslips and online bank statements but these were actually stamped by bank itself.

I only sent 3/4 utility bills for cohabitation with my wife which were sporadic for the last 2 years. But she bears my surname in her ID documents so that is more than enough for a proof that she is indeed my wife. lol.

Word of advice, go for premium service if you can afford it. I made a mistake of not going for it even though I could afford it and I have to wait 4.5 months for my ILR and further 4/5 months for my baby's registration as British before I can travel anywhere! (baby's grandad and nana are anxiously waiting). That is almost a year's wait. Not good.

Thought I would share a timeline for everyone waiting on SET (O) (Ancestry, no dependents, if it matters)

Posted: 23/07
Payment taken: 25/07
Letter of receipt dated: 25/07
Email from HO saying application received: 13/08
Biometrics letter received: 15/08
Biometrics completed: 19/08
Documents returned with approval letter: 19/11
BRP should arrive in the next few days

So from start to finish, a touch under 4 months.

I have recently submitted my SET (O). Here's my timeline:

Application submitted : 31/10/2014 (Royalmail special delivery)
Received by HO: 3/11/2014
Money taken from card: 4/11/2014
Received acknowledgement letter: 11/11/2014 (dated 4/11/2014)
Email acknowledgement: 20/11/2014
Received Biometric letter: 21/11/2014 (dated 18/11/2014)
Enrolled Biometric details: 21/11/2014
(And the waiting begins.)

I've just found out that I ticked the wrong column on the type of accommodation I live in. I rented from a private housing association but I ticked 'privately rented by you'. How will this affect my application? and how can I correct it? Does anyone have this experience?

Also, I'm self-employed. Are applications from self-employeds usually take longer than others?
