Changing employment from Tier 2 General to Tier 2 General

Post by dhilipjack » Thu Jul 11, 2013 3:42 pm

Hi there,

I am currently under the Tier 2 (General), which is recently granted in Feb 2013. I have some problems with my current sponsor and I have a new offer who can sponsor me. My current visa is valid until Feb 2016.

I know that the Tier 2 can't be extended more than 6 years. What happens, if I apply for new CoS now?

Do they give me 3 years of visa if it is mentioned in the CoS?

Am I allowed to extend it after 3 years?

How do they calculate the 6 years?

Thanks

It doesn't matter, after 5 years of residence in the UK you can apply for ILR.

My friends and I are facing the same question.

(1) If someone has a 1 1/2 years left out of their 3 years initial COS applied within the UK then would they be give another 3 years of COS by different company and the HO would agree or the HO would limit them to just 1 1/2 years. Later they shall have to apply for another 3 years.
(2) If someone has 1 years or less left in their initial COS applied within the UK then would they be given another 3 years of COS by different company and the HO would agree for 3 years or the HO would limit them to only the remaining 1 years and they shall have to re-apply for another 3 years after 1 year.

Guys, Please reply on this Subject.

@cyberstud23
the new leave will be the shorter of:
a) the period of engagement
b) 5 years
c) the period that brings the total leave under T2 to 6 years (assuming the initial leave was granted after 5 April 2011)

Hi,

I have few questions related.

Could you please tell changing employer in the same category from Tier 2 General to Tier 2 General is called as switching immigration category or extending visa under same category??

To make a new tier 2 application by the new sponsor can they issue 5years Tier 2 General visa directly now when only 9 months being spend on Tier 2 General visa earlier with the previous sponsor??

Please kindly clarify these, your help is appreciated.
