Shortage Occupation clarification

Post by UKkumar » Sun Dec 21, 2014 12:48 pm

Hi all,
Last year I got Tier2 visa under 2121 Fluid Engineer (Hydraulics).
Based on 2013 SOC list it is under SOC list.
Recently I received my immigration history (SAR - Subject Asses Request), in these documents I found COS details submitted by my sponsor. In Additional data paragraph of this document I found one question “Is the job on the Shortage Occupation list? : N” So I was shock my COS says NO.
Now my confusion is “Do I have to consider my occupation is under SOC list?”

I will be very happy for your views.

Thanks
Kumar

hii manci,
hope you would help me to sort out my confusion in job title
shortage occupation list:job:soc-2027: Production and process engineers
Title:manufacturing engineer
but the same job title is in NQF-3,soc-3113-engineering technician
Title-manufacturing engineer.
If i apply for the job (manufacturing engineer)which is in shortage occupation list ,will the job title be considered
as the same in NQF-3

but i am paid as per the salary rate mentioned in shortage occupation list which is higher than mentioned in NQF-3

I need ur advice on this. Thanks!!!!!!

@muhilana
There is no SOC code 2027, presumably you mean 2127 and this code is only a shortage occupation if you are a chemical engineer or work in the aerospace or nuclear industries.

It is not the job title that matters but the job description . The job description for the SOC code chosen by the sponsor (not by you) must be the closest match to the description in the SOC list.
